The problem is that FMR is not overseen by Player Support, but by Community Management.

Moving the responsibility over to Player Support is one of the suggestions that has been made on this thread.

Forum Help is basically run by the FMods, who are responsible to Community Management, not Player Support.

Whoever handling FMR now or in the past could only say and do whatever Jagex told them to. No words now probably means Jagex doesn't want Jmods to say or do anything at this moment.

TBH, I see a lot of moving parts in how social media kind of businesses like Jagex approach to their duties of care. They may have to wait and see what's next after the dust settles. They may have to take more time to learn the new meta or train more new mods. They may even have to go with AI or AI aided moderation in the future.

but robots already do the moderating

hehehe

No. Robots and AI aren't the same thing. You may think of Botwatch a "robot" but it is dumb. I doubt it does much more than scanning words entered by players into their blacklisted vocabulary. It lacks the human-like intelligence in determining the context of certain words in a sentence. It lacks the analytics tools to detect target attacks among other online harms.

AI is more like the April Fools 2018 Jagexa RS3 joked on:

Who knows? Perhaps Ofcom will mandate Mod K A R I to work alongside Mod Kari on FMR next year. :)

Jagex will have their duty of care to moderate their games directly. Regulations will not allow the company to turn a blind eye on what's happening in the community. I am sure they are learning from companies like Facebook that are being brought in front of both the US Congress and the UK Parliament now.

They can't just close FMR and pretend nothing is there. However, I believe at this stage they have no obligation to reply to FMR although they may have to do the right things behind the scene. :)

Tbh I dont think that Mod Kari is really to blame for this.
I suspect its more likely that on employing the purple mods, it was reasonably assumed that Mod Kari would only have to spend a very small amount of time dealing with RSOF

"They can't just close FMR and pretend nothing is there."
Ill take your word for that - i havent been paying attention to all this legal stuff.
But assuming that does happen, I cant believe it will be easy to justify paying a CM JMod, and the purple mods.
What does RSOF actually bring Jagex? Whats the upside given the support burden? Certainly no money and a vanishingly poor about of positive publicity for all that off topics and rant are hidden. And this is how software works. "Where is my ####ing money" is a pretty primary concern.

IIRC, CMs are supposed to be turned into Jmods. It won't surprise me when eventually CMs will become Jmods, if Jagex deem them capable of interpreting and executing both the commands of Jagex and regulations fairly and correctly.

Okay, the original joke has led to the thread being derailed.

Enough about robots and AI, they are not related to the subject of this thread.
