I think the amount of time it gets to take a response leading to people forgetting what they even requested review for is a problem. It's not only a problem with how often the thread is being checked, it also highlights the issue with the automatic hiding of posts. Confidentiality is important, of course. But I don't see why the poster themself is unable to see their own post. This would also let people edit their post if necessary.
Hell, if the Jmod was able to edit
your own post
and add your reply, and you were the only one able to view it, it would solve a lot. A jmod editing your post would also remove your ability to edit it, so it kind of finishes the discussion, while making the response confidential.
That way some users aren't known as always running to FMR
, but I'd almost rather see the dev time spent on reviving the highlight report system with an option for "Moderation Review". Feedback could then be sent via player inbox, which keeps the entire exchange confidential between the reporter and Jagex.
(Not to derail the topic, but while they're in there working on the highlight function, it would even be ideal to throw some categories in there that the FMods/LMods can action. Title changes, lock requests, general reports - FH stuff. Player Safety and Moderation Review would bypass the FMod level and go straight to Jagex and/or LMods, depending.)
- Anyways, that's a whole other topic.
Having a way to "appeal" an action to a higher level does ease some tensions and frustrations in itself, so there are benefits to keeping such a system around. That is, provided the execution or issues therein are not able to get in the way of those benefits resulting in the same tension and frustration that would have existed without it.

Food scientists have finally managed to remove the mint flavor from gum! The ex-spearmint was a success!
It's been over a month since the slate was cleared and a new FMR thread created... in which time NONE of the very few issues raised (only 3! in a month!) have been responded to.
Evidently, even when the backlog is removed, Jagex Staff do not have any time or willingness to respond to player concerns.
It's time to accept that the process needs to change, and the professional external moderators hired by Jagex be allowed to respond to customer issues as well.
~~~~ Just another victim of the ambient morality ~~~~
You challenged Mod Kari's comments and she can't be assed to even reply; that kind of proves my point regarding having an 'aloof and cavalier' attitude.
And yes, you're going to say it's a systemic issue, but once again if the person in charge doesn't give a crap, it makes no difference.
I for one would just love to know what the "reasons" are that a ticket system won't work, as she put it.
Please be respectful to the gold crowns behind the game. They are people too. It's summertime and the Jagex offices are too hot to survive the heat of the forums. We'll get some reviews around winter time, don't you worry.
