Ikr, for such a 'dead forum', W&F appears to be quite popular! General Forum is titled 'The Main Forum' on the Forums menu bar at the top of the page so it didn't surprise me either that it was mentioned a lot.
I was happy to see this thread: 'The Forum Offence System' by Mod Infinity, qfc 103-104-2-65207582.
I also found the comments posted on 'The Forum Offence System: Comments' by Mod Infinity qfc 14-15-799-65207589 announcing the introduction of the 'new' forum offence system interesting too. Contained in the content of the thread are some examples of what hopefully the forum offence system will eliminate in the future.

@5 x, I don't know who that is, maybe someone else might.
I think you might be right Loggy. I looked at the some of the historical posts listed on 1.6 on Tree's thread. It does appear that more than one internal department was involved in 2011 according to the content.
I didn't see anything on the featured posts dated 2012 or 2013 that might provide any clues either.
I'd be grateful if someone dug up the thread(s) where the quoting system was announced/commented on by Jmods, so I might actually start from somewhere. I don't want to speak to entire team heh... just some Jmod working on quote system/Forum technical stuff.

If I recall correctly, there was no real "announcement" of the quote system or any particular way for us to know who was directly involved in the quote system. I think your best bet would be a thread & response from Mod Chrisso.

It wasn't quite that I was referring to.
At least a year before we got the quote button, JMods seemed to get a variant of it which produced a different looking quote box. Several different JMods used it leading me to believe that somebody had worked on it for them, then picked it up later and worked on what we have now.
I have a question about the new forum offense system that I could not find addressed in the threads related to the topic. Maybe I missed it or maybe it might not of been asked. This is the section I have a question on:
--
'Users found to be circumventing forum bans solely to disrupt the forums by using throw away accounts risk action being taken against their main game account. This is also true for users who decide to disrupt the forums on throw away accounts (regardless of whether or not they are evading a ban).'
--
As a rule abiding forum user one of the things that always bothered me was when a main account was banned from the forum is when that individual returned on an alt account & continued where they left off. It often appeared that the loss of the alt, (if that alt got banned too) was no big deal since the individual usually has a steady supply of alts to use. This type of forum user always seemed to find their way back to the forum to continue their unpleasantness.
What 'if' we as forum users notice that a main account was subject to a forum ban (because individuals do tend to mention this) & then the banned individual then returns to the forum & continues where they left off but on an 'alt' account. What if we then see that the 'alt' is also moderated for the same thing but the alt is given 'a second chance' because it may be viewed as a different individual.
Do we as forum users who support the current efforts in tiding up the forums & are hopeful that that 'alt/main' rule will be enforced 'report' that the main & alt are one in the same or not (since the connection between the two accounts might not of been apparent to moderator)?
If we should report this as we would any other type of rule breaking what would be the procedure to use?
In the past, I've posted similar reports on Forum Help since there is obviously no way to communicate that much over a highlight. With the forum emergencies thread, you could also use that.
Officially, there is no way to report such a matter in a confidential manner. The emergencies thread would work since it is autohidden, but that's temporary.
Thanks Alaz for your thoughts on this quandary. Even though the section cited from the Forum Offense System has always been a part of the TOS it does give all
rule abiding forumers hope that it will finally be enforced.
I just found it rather annoying recently since the new forum offense system has been in place to see 'alts' of banned mains coming back to the forums taking up where they left off as well as bragging about their bans.
It was doubly annoying when I saw one of the 'alts' being moderated, not once, but twice for same thing the main got banned for. Not only did this 'alt' laugh about being moderated, they continued on the same path that they got moderated for again without consequence.
It was kinda obvious that the moderator didn't make the connection between the two accounts belonging to the same individual even though it was the same individual who moderated both accounts (the main & the alt).
I agree that there is no mechanism in place for this type of reporting. It is doubtful that I would use FH to report something like this for obvious reasons & it doesn't appear that this type of report would fit the Temporary Forum Emergencies threads criterion either.
