I've been watching this thread since it was created, and have been biting my tongue for quite a while and not posting, because I know it'll delve into directing things towards others and/or naming and shaming, which aren't necessarily acceptable for the forums.

I will leave with just saying, the downfall of the forums is
not
the fault of the FMod Team. Yes, there's been countless decisions in the past, towards myself and others that I do not agree with personally, however that does not fault the team for the current state of the forums. They are set guidelines by Jagex in which they have to follow - it does suck these guidelines aren't publicly shared, or the FSRs haven't been updated for a decade, but we just have to take the word of the team that they are following those guidelines. If a team member were to "make up" their own rules, then I'm sure they wouldn't be on the team for much longer. ;)

Not sure how long the OP has been apart of the forum community, but back in the day, you got muted for saying Google and other ridiculous things. The rules have become a lot more relaxed, and I strongly believe that would've in part been due to the contributions of the FMods in consultation with CM.

As others have said, the reason these forums are dead isn't because of the FMods, but because of the lack of JMod interactions here, as well as, quite honestly shit forum system. There's so many restrictions on here for posting (images, videos, 2k character limit, lack of formatting tools such as dot points or polls, etc), which other platforms offer. Also, for things like Twitter, you can post whatever you like without the worry of someone else deleting it.

This thread just appears to be the OP being butthurt about a decision that was made against one of their threads. Don't feel bad though, you're not the only one. We've all been there at some point. ;)

Fmods were only doing what the company told them to do as seen from time to time with certain fmods randomly having their status removed for seemingly not following their "duties" to the letter and turning into a normal person at times.

If you ask me, it's us, the forumers being dicks at times "me included" and the somewhat heavy handed company with it's tests at topics which in reality should have never been an option, Religion, Politics and other dubious themes which did implode upon allowance and caused no end of trouble.

So with this company seeing how us forumers acted after being given some responsibility, Jagex just tarred everyone with the same brush and we were all treated like children which brought along the N.S.F.W ways we see now.

So, moral of the story - Don't blame the Fmods, blame yourself, myself, himself, herself and Jagex for making the non paid workers "Fmods" do their dirty work and as seen by your title....

Also the blame....

Much love

FMods aside, a lot of my personal engagements with Jmods left more than a little bad taste in my mouth. .

Yea prolly justified. Not basketball fans and what not.

They did humor us with forum changes but that only came after some heavy backlash.
I think Balance did seriously plan forum changes pre backlash but took too much pushing, for them to lighten up.

I don't think the fmods were the sole killers but the moderation did not help. The prechange to the rules you couldn't even post links. Topics got nuked cause the opening post had links or a curse word. Seeing an fmod on post 5 be the topic opening, reposted but edited without the curse word or link was so lame. (They did that sometimes to salvage a topic)

The forums were so starved of jmod posts anytime they did show up was like LOL XD find me on twitter, And you see them all day/week long active 24/7 there but 0 forum posts for 6 months. Its like the hell. So what reason was there to stay here other than people you knew. Only reason I kept using them.

Reddit is such a downvote hellhole a jmod made an account there and couldn't post cause his karma kept dropping too low. Yea like I'd migrate there to post as a new user.
(Reddit doesn't let you post if your karma [their site point system] is negative)

But those Indians can still stand up and object to questionable orders! May die for it, but still.

I don't agree with this. Rules allowed it in 2017? yet it wasn't till 2020 when politics was banned again. Religion can still be discussed as far as I'm aware and no end of trouble has not been caused. Same with politics it was basically contained to a couple of active threads where those who wanted to discuss it could post and those like myself who were not interested could you know not click on the thread.

As far as I'm concerned politics was banned because of one user.

Politics went fine for a time, it boosted the off topic section activity for a bit.

Though, they had a jmod void around the time they allowed it, which is why it went to hell. All the main jmods were leaving and the CM team was abandoned. So 0 gold police to stop spammers and alts.

Balance was the last CM left and he made some Appropriate convo sticky after he purged the section of spammers for 1 day.

Then the new jmod kari? I think was the one to put a nail in the coffin for politics in off topic. Didnt follow the section under her to know that time range.
