General

For any RuneScape topic not covered by the other forums

==================================================

This thread is about the
General Forum
and how this forum is being abused by forum regulars/veterans as a sort of claim that they can use this forum how they would like and when, disregarding Rules they in the past have agreed upon in discussions about this forum.

This problem, in General, is not a mistake nor an issue of Moderation
but more or less some disrespectful behavior of forum regulars/veterans, players who know The RSOF well enough and frequently/daily visit those forums of RuneScape to voice their opinion.

Why do I create this thread?
I do create this thread to create awareness that forum regulars/veterans above all Players of RuneScape should lead by example doing the right thing.

... If not, face consequences if necessary.

The strap-lines on the main page in The RSOF for every single forum give away what can be posted and what not. A very simple and effective concept which doesn’t lead to any confusion at all.

Unless … unless you are not aware how these forums do work because you are a newbie … or you are in an emotional state when being somewhat angry - or you have lost control of your account etc. etc. things that unbalance you not giving things much thought … or you soo long have been away that the only & first thing you think of are
General Forums
.

In the past, here in
Websites & Forums
we have discussed
General Forums
in great length and agreed upon that if threads are accidentally misplaced in this forum we give them a 24-48 hour head-start before they are moved to the proper forum where it needs to be in.

The reasons/rules for this are,
- to give all threads a fair chance of existence,
- to not create a hostile sphere of ownership of a forum,
- to give threads that “do” belong in
General
a fair chance getting attention instead of being sent off to chewy
- above all because Jagex & The RuneScape Community have created these forums as how they are.

These “Rules” were not set in stone … but more or less agreed upon out of respect for another persons feedback.

In the last year players have been acting disrespectful misplacing threads in
General
where they really do know that it is not the place to place such threads in.

Out of respect to others I do wanna request to move those misplaced threads to correct forums so others do have a fair chance in a forum and The RSOF gets an equal share of attention in every forum.
General
is killed that way as of the rest of The RSOF if it doesn’t change.

Sadly because a few F-Mods have posted on both threads we can't just move them now.

You will need to use the Review thread and see how it goes.

I get what you are saying and support the moves but it's out of our hands right now.

Hope that helps.

It makes sense Tuffty, as I said it is not Moderations' fault, some players "do" need to change and Forum Moderation Review is not the place to pester you FMods/LMods/JMods with.

If someone keeps misplacing threads in General despite numerous warnings by the Fmods, then they need to be given a forum mute.
I do agree with you ... I have many times thought the same way but I do not know if it would be wise of me to go that way so I hope to seek assistance in how to solve this problem.

Hello 2 Tron.

Great thread and I get where you are coming from. So to help out I will pass this along to the team and Jagex and see what can be done to make General Great again. (Bad pun but needed to be said) ;)

News soon.

When I said you can use review. It can also alert Jagex of an issue you have spotted that needs addressing where F-Mods hands are tied. In this case threads you feel belong elsewhere that F-Mods have posted on. Review can still be used to alert Jagex. ;)

Thanks for the hard labor, it is appreciated. :)
However, because FMods did post on both threads doesn't mean Forum Moderation Review should be used in this case as it would become a moderation issue which it isn't.

Players need to change.

I've no idea what you folk are talking about specifically - if, indeed, you are talking about specific threads at all.

However if a thread is in the wrong place and a Mod of any flavour posts on it without moving it to the correct area, then surely the Mod is more to blame than the original poster?

Like, an OP might have been confused as to where to put it, or put it in General in good faith, so if a Mod drops by it's down to them to see it doesn't fit and thus move it - not just blithely post their tuppence-worth and move on, leaving someone else to make a complaint about it. No?

So, I vote we pelt the Mods with rotten tomatoes.

:P It's not always that easy. Heres why.

If someone spams/trolls a thread and it's reported and a F-Mod deals with it they won't read the topic usually. They might go right to the reported post and deal with it. That means no blame can be made on the F-Mod who dealt with the report.

It's hard to explain really but F-Mods have ways to deal with these things. It can just take a while to deal with. Can't say much more as it gives away F-Mod secrets. :P
