^ I'd have though that would be obvious to everyone with a modicum of foruming experience.

Perhaps Tranq meant to say it would push a semi active thread further down the list say from page 2 to page 3 or page 3 to page 4 (I personally don't go past page 4 when looking at threads) rather than one on page 50 disappearing... ;)

The damage is already done from a thread standpoint it exists pushing a thread into chewie's open mouth. So now we've pushed yet another thread into chewie's mouth.
Yea, I think she also meant pushing a thread down the list. I guess I only focused on these parts of her points :P .

So, I vote we pelt the Mods with rotten tomatoes.

:P It's not always that easy. Heres why.

If someone spams/trolls a thread and it's reported and a F-Mod deals with it they won't read the topic usually. They might go right to the reported post and deal with it. That means no blame can be made on the F-Mod who dealt with the report.

It's hard to explain really but F-Mods have ways to deal with these things. It can just take a while to deal with. Can't say much more as it gives away F-Mod secrets. :P

No wonder moderation at times is done unfairly :

- Some threads could take position on two or more different forum indexes.
- Moderators might have different view points on where a thread belongs, same as a forumer.
- Not sure what the big deal is in the way that you want to ban an OP for a miner issue?
- The only thing that annoys me is this thread here gets to stay, while this one here gets moved, the consistency is not the same for each thread or OP.
- This does not deserve a ban though.

Just like real life, there is no hard fast rule about thread placements. But we do thread moves if we see it is warranted based-on the context of the thread. In the grand scheme of things, misplacing threads is an annoying behavior, but it barely pass as a damaging action against RSOF's operations.

As I have emphasized earlier, the possibility of receiving a harsh penalty over posting a thread contrary to its proper location is near zero: it can be compared to a person becoming rich by winning the lottery jackpot.

If a player wants to post in
General
-Forum this individual should have noticed two things;

1).
Strap line
on the main-age of The RSOF
For any RuneScape topic not covered by the other forums

1).
Specific Rules
on the first page of
General
-Forums.

General Rules

General Forum Guide

What is the General Forum for?

The General Forum is a place for discussion relating to RuneScape or Jagex that doesn’t fit into any other forum.
If you want to talk about random, non-RuneScape/Jagex topics, please head over to “Off Topic”.
If you’re looking to discuss a specific feature or area of the game, please check for a more appropriate forum first (e.g. for a recent in-game update, go to “Recent Game Updates”, to suggest ideas for new content, try “New Game Content - Suggestions” etc.
As ever, you should always do a quick forum search to check the topic you want to discuss doesn’t already have a well-established thread dedicated to it. This keeps the forums nice and tidy.

What is the General Forum not for?

This forum should not be used for account support issues, this includes offence appeals, abuse reports, security concerns, permanent bans, display names or anything relating to your personal game account. Please use the appropriate method of contact instead.
This forum is not a 'catch all' forum for spam or 'throw away threads'. All topics created must have some legitimate discussion value; any disruptive behaviour within this forum will be dealt with in line with the Forum Offence System.

=============

These information blocks are there as guidance to review your feedback that you want to put forward and check if it is the right forum to post in. It certainly isn’t a way to see how one can circumvent the Rules to do whatever they are up to.

misplaced thread

If & When someone, without thinking or a proper preparation, is going to post/place a thread that doesn’t follow the strap line & specific rules another thread in that forum will be pushed off of page 50.

thread move

If & When a moderator decides to move a thread to a different location said thread is relocated to that other new location and the empty “spot” left out in its earlier location is filled with a “tag-post” with the right link to its new location. So no other thread in that forum is spilled to make that move possible.

=============

Why bother?

It is a most common response to why bother, why making such a fuss? As a moderator already has said, “If we rank all possible rule violations that a person can do in this board, misplaced threads is at the bottom of the pile”.

Another moderator follows up, “I see no point in moving it away from general as it will die out on its own”.

Well here is the issue. Players always tend to mirror themselves towards the authorities at the other end of the board.
If the authorities, in this case moderators, show themselves not even being bothered by players disregarding the Rules & Regulations, even being the most simple of the Rules, players will not be bothered too and do whatever they feel is just in their point of view.
This way I have seen Forums fallen, Forums dry out and disrespectfully breaking up Forums into a mixture between all Forums The RSOF has.
It has become a large mess of disrespect and some moderators care less because … you fill in the blanks.

First and far-most this is a player-created issue but with moderators who obviously “don’t care” where will it end?

What I meant by it's going to die out on it's own was I have a question... I'll use this for an example as it's currently in it's proper place...

Help on quest?

Original message details are unavailable.
Hey, so im trying to do the within the light quest and i had forgot an item in my bank so i teleported out but i didnt reset the last light beam back to the door at the bottom of the stairs like a moron. I figured id just go upstairs pull the lever to reset the light maze/puzzle, but when i go to try to i get a message in game saying "the temple of light safeguards are working fine for now, so id best not meddle with them." so I guess my question is this. how do i either reset the light maze/puzzle or get back through that door to continue the quest? any help would be great, thank you for taking the time.

my response:

Original message details are unavailable.
Ok multiple options for getting back.

1st option - is going through the underground pass. The area where destroyed the coffin is the dwarf encampment. There is a crack in the wall that leads back to the death altar, it's why there is a dwarf at the altar to begin with.

2nd option - Go through the Abyss to the death altar and walk out the portal.

3rd option - Death altar tab with a death teletab from the runecrafting guild reward shop.

4th option - use the wicked hood to teleport to the death altar.

Any of the above 4 will get you back to the side of the light beam you need.

Now if this were posted in general forum it was asked and answered. It's not locked nor has anyone else posted beyond me. Why move it to runescape guides and help at that point? The moved thread thread is still going to be in general forum. Now if they need far more help or I didn't know the answer I do indeed shift the thread so they can get the help they seek.

^I posted once in a quest help forum and no one helped me, I want help now not in a few days or whenever someone checks the thread. I posted a quest help in general and got lots of support instantly. This is the reason general is the more preferred thread.
