Forgot Dg's poptart question:
It's a thin pastry filled with frosting or jelly. You're supposed to put it in your toaster. They're not very good

What is with your tipping culture? Why can't you just pay waiters etc an actual decent wage instead of mandatory tipping? The only time I've tipped it was hotel staff because the room was gross and I felt sorry for them having to clean it up.

We like to pay people for doing a good job. You should tip anyone who does anything for you.

Paying higher wages and eliminating tips for service jobs would make it a lot harder to evaluate which employees perform the best (or are the most attractive tbh).

Doesn't this help the already well off owners make more money (by paying low wages) to the detriment of the much less well off waiters?

Yeah.

So do you think this is a good thing?IS this what "the American dream" is about?

I understand why some people want to tip, and why raising the minimum in the U.S is far different than in smaller countries like Canada in Australia which is why it's so low. However..

..I find it absolutely revolting that waitresses and delivery drivers etc act like spoilt brats when you don't tip enough. They should be grateful people tip at all. These people accept jobs for the $3 an hour. That is what their labour is worth in a country absolutely brimming with unskilled labour and few suitable jobs. If their labour was actually worth more then the owner of the store would up prices in order to pay them that.

Mandatory tipping is a disgusting idea.

My suspicion is that if the owner could up prices they'd do that and make more money for themselves.

disgusting or not that is how America is run. Don't like it, don't come here. Did you know that people that need the tip get paid less than countries where tipping may not be necessary?
I am bad at hide and seek.

Because every other sport besides hockey shares its name with its ball, it was inevitable that the name of the sport received the name of the ball.

Golf?

Tennis?
Rugby?
Squash?
Badminton?

Football is not an appropriate name for soccer following the standards for proper sport naming, which state that it is best for the sport to be a combination of the fundamental feature of the sport and the word "ball".

Pfft, the "standards for proper sport naming" weren't around when football was invented.
