Except "eating like a normal human being" would leave you lacking the macro-nutrients you need to build muscle and size.

I think the RDA for protein is something as low as 50g..

There are plenty of paleo proteins and "natural" protein supplements. I don't buy into all the conspiracy theorists who try to say supplements as simple as whey protein will do you any harm.

These are likely the same people who say X, Y and Z all cause cancer. Red meat, mobile phones, not spinning in a 360 degree circle every 5th hour.

Of course eating 150g+ of protein "naturally" with meats, fish, nuts, w/e will work.. Whey protein supplements aren't miracle growth. A shake costs about 50p per serving however, compared to £1-£1.20 for a single chicken breast.

tl;dr - don't use proteins unless you feel it is absolutely necessary.

Edit: I take kinesiology classes in high school. ;)

Protein is a macronutrient... :|

People may say having whey protein in your diet is "dangerous" for health, though they are the same people who say a glass of red wine a day can cause cancer, yet then support studies that say a glass of red wine a day can be beneficial to health!

Without sounding smarmy and rude, who gives a shit. In moderation, with supplementation being supported by a healthy diet, one will typically maintain good levels of well-being (unless of serious underlying medical conditions).
Again, nether.

I have always lol'd at 50g a day being the RDA. I mean come on, no wonder people are so darned unhealthy - they bombard their bodies with simple and processed sugars, aspartame (woo fat free!) and saturated fats (woo sugar free!).

Life...

People should be eating more meat products and have a great deal of fruit and vegetables. Fresh food is vital - I cannot stress this enough.

brb pizza and nachos. salt overload. brb no potassium in my diet either.
Again, nether.

Lots of people here talking about using protein supplements.. So, just to enlighten you folks, most of these products haven't been approved by the FDA and haven't been studied for long-term side effects that can be detrimental to your own health. I'm an all natural body-builder (or at least working to become one) and so far by just eating clean and natural proteins, my gains have been significant week by week.

tl;dr - don't use proteins unless you feel it is absolutely necessary.

Decided to track my progress extensively, when I finally had a set routine, here is the results: HTTP://puu.sh/8bHzC.png *indicates days I missed/didn't complete my workout.

Simply put:
Body Fat: ~24% to ~19%
Lean Mass: up ~3-5  pounds (~1-2kg)

Near the beginning of this thread, I was a whopping 28% bf (Jan 16th). Gotta give props to ya'll and this thread. Ya'll sparked an incentive for me to train with the tips and advice, Many Thanks .

I was just looking through the HLF picture thread and it looks like this thread needed to be revived so that that thread can have more pics and less chatting about weights :p

Rules were made to be broken.

Or something.
