I've been shooting for ~200g but depending on work and when I can actually get my hands on food, I don't always hit that.

6'5 115kg ur either a giant with some bodyfat or a mr O competitor

I'm not lean, mean washboard abs but I'm not overweight. Lean enough to see definition. I'm far from Mr O. :p

How can I calculate BF % accurately? Most calculators aren't accurate and give skewed results, especially when you're taller.

Discussing a hobby that many people have but you don't share?

A hobby with a LOT of room for discussion.

LITTLE MAN SYNDROME!

its not like you have to be so vain about discussing it on an open forum.

i lift but i dont have dedicated threads 2 it, not really my fault you're all wanting attention tho

Most people are just pooling ideas, sharing techniques and asking/giving advice.

I don't think numbers and statistics have come into this. My post was one of the first, if not the first, to mention lifts and weight and if you think a 70kg bench is bragging then I don't know what to say.. If everybody had their best lifts as their signature (LolBBforums) I'd be inclined to agree.

Nobody knows it all and if there are a lot of Scapers who enjoy working out, why shouldn't there be a thread for them to discuss a hobby they share? This is Off-Topic after all. What do you suggest? We all head over to BB to be flamed and fed broscience?

Again I'm no expert at bulking, but maybe it's your reps 10-12 is pretty high maybe try heavier weights with 6-8 reps. It'll definitely cut down your time in the gym, but should fix overtraining or let you know if you're doing it. If you don't feel like your overtraining, then maybe you're undertraining! (I did this back in HS, and was in the same predicament you're in now. I just didn't feel the need to push myself anymore, possibly same case for you, doubtful, but maybe?) Anyways Glad to see you know about form!

The cheapest way to get an idea on BF% would be some calipers. Your gym most likely has a few lying around Just ask them, they shouldn't have a problem letting you borrow them to find out/help you find out your BF%. On the other hand, you can also order your own online from sites like amazon. It'd help let you know close to where you're at, and help in the future if you ever wanted to check again. Measuring BF% really doesn't matter, it's mainly just an easy way to show how your progress is doing. If you find it to be 20%+ I'd definitely say cardio is still the thing to work on, it improves muscle definition incredibly.

However, nutrition could be stunting it as well. If you are indeed under eating, you'd definitely need to get your calories, or at least protein intake, to maintain those muscles. (main reason body builders have no problems with carbs, why eat less if muscles are at stake+optimal energy) I don't think you fall in this line, but if work prevents you from eating for 3-4+ hours, I'd find a way to bring a snack. (otherwise your muscles could be catabolizing themselves for energy)

It could even be psychological :P take a picture of yourself now, then after 1-2 months take, another and compare. Hard to tell when something changes so slowly overtime.

Anyways sorry for the long posts, it's definitely something we will never know for sure about, so it's always long to explain and experimental methods for now. agreed on your last posts too lol

Depends, by fit I'm going to assume you mean lose body fat and gain muscle. Some people like to work on both, but that's for a long term/lifetime goal. If you want to just get fit for sake of summer, you're probably looking more towards cutting first, then decide to bulk if you're happy where your at.

With that said, it seems you want to cut...so I'd look into something like Tabata/HIIT it worked wonders for me, very first time trying it I dropped 8lbs in 2 weeks. (bf% I was unsure of, but I know it wasn't water weight)

Most of Tabata/HIIT is basically heavy cardio, with body weight exercises, but not limited to that only. (things like pushups/burpees/etc.) HOWEVER, be careful injury is the opportunity to put you off for a while, so start slow. In a nutshell, HIIT/Tabata is 2:1 workout:rest. Example: Jump rope for 1min, then rest 30 secs for total time of 15 minutes (can vary all of this any way you like, just keep 2:1 ratio, and only go as far as you feel is needed. Again, Don't over do it.)

Nutrition wise, find out  your max calorie intake and go 10% below it. (If you feel that's plentiful enough, decrease it, just don't go below 20% of your calorie intake) You will need to count calories best you can. You can guess a few by using things like google to help find out how many calories is in it, but packaging and weighing your food is the optimal way to find out.

Bumping for protein advice..

TL;DR - Got a new job, never used big brand name proteins before, can now afford "top of the range" proteins (ON being the one in question), I'm a sucker for marketing.

Is it really worth spending a little bit extra for ON Gold Standard?

It's got to be the world's best selling whey for a reason, right? Right??

e: It's actually about the same price p/ serving of the cheaper, bargain basement protein I use currently because when using that, I double up on the serving size. Also because of that reason, I'd be dropping from 38g (of cheaper, lower quality concentrate blends?) to 24g of a blend that's mainly isolates.

just find a company not trying to rip you off.. name doesnt say anything

and mix with 500ml milk wich adds 17.5 grams of protein so its ~40 grams of protein per shake
