no wait. I want to make friends with the dude. I am not tryin to badger him. I understand the discontent. Its not a flame contest. I have been guilty of some similar things, and where I didnt like the explanation I had to use a lot of empathy, or research, to figure out my own reasons to follow whatever forum rule I had bent. Thats another reason I thought he might listen to me if he has seen me get moderated before.

its best for the game if we don't blacklist or blackmail each other. thats not really what he meant, and I can tell, but it is what he wrote in his signature.

Its just a little issue of optics (how it looks).

First I am using my phone to respond so please bare with my typos
But

There are forums that as soon as you post the post is instantly hidden but the mods can see what was written

There is no reason to think it can not be done on any of the tattle tale forums

I am deliberately not stating which forums I am talking about because I am pretty sure is specified There is some kind of rule I would be breaking but by keeping it generalized I am not

I will. Commit more once I have tje chance to reset up my laptop

This thread is about the hidden abuse that takes place on the forums

By people who use legit ways of bulling others

A average forum person who does not usually post gets baited into a simple
Infraction the person who baited him reports him.

I see once a reporter has wound up occasional forum poster he/ she will pop over make a report and come right back to continue to bait the occasional poster

And as sure as heck the occasional former responses are hidden

And that's how tje bullying is done

And what does the person who reported get?. Praise from the mods

So shutting out people who are trying to participate in the use of the forums results in just a few who bully their way to controlling the forums

Isn't that a wonderful thing?

but lets be fair to the mods,

i have seen mods hide both the reporter of a forum crime and the occasional posters comments

but what is the effect of that action?

the reporter takes it as a minor issue

while the person who was baited is pissed off,,, sees the toxicity of the forum and never comes back

making the reporter the winner of the moment

truly truly a shame .. truly black eyes for a environment that is to be open for all to enjoy ,

and only the bully wins,

firstly i think in your posts, instead of calling the forum help thread tattle tale thread you should call it forum help thread. it will come off better when people are reading it.

mods cant read hidden posts iirc. do correct me if im wrong but i think j mods are only ones.

you say legit ways of bullying, what on earth is a legit way of bullying? how can there be a legit bullying method? bullying altogether is a big no no.

just because person x reports their post doesnt mean person x is a bully, its reporting behaviour that isnt allowed in the forums. as tuffty has stated all f mods have specific guidelines to follow with what their action will be. if action can be taken then yes that person was breaking rules, and person x's post should be hidden

of course there is the forum mod review thread which will have a fresh set of eyes on the situation if someone thought wrong doing occurs as well f mods / cms etc are of course human and errors happen

it seems you think there is some kind of conspiracy among forum users which is really hard grasp as it really doesnt make sense.considering f mods and cms have specific guidelines to follow.

your sig is also a worrying aspect, for one you call it tattle tale thread... an issue in its own right, and 2 you think people using it are bullys for literally no reason. and 3 you have posted in them yourself???? so its awfully confusing lmao

but i dont come to hlf much its not as lively as it was in 2011. so wasnt expecting a thread to post on :o interesting

im aware you dont be to be too specific which is fair, but i think you need to edge a little closer to what you truely want to say, as right now it doesnt make much sense with how the forums actually work.

im sure you are talking about when threads get a little heated, and thats normal opinions get thrown about alot, people disagree thats human nature. but one person gets personal or starts acting out, then action needs to be taken. for a healthy discussion to continue

... continued. And apologies im now at work so on mobile

Unfortunately not alot in second post possibly most important paragraph. But if you do see bullying you need to report it. Bullying is a serious offense and will be taken seriously. I guess you want to but feel like you cant as the posts arent hidden asap. Hense this thread. But bullying is a serious offense the chance of the people seeing it is slim as an fmod or cm will see the help thread more than them.

Reporting rule breakers is how we keep the forums clean and about discussing runescape as thats what we are here for afterall. To discuss RS

There are forums that as soon as you post the post is instantly hidden but the mods can see what was written

Sadly if the thread is made by Jagex with auto hide then F-Mods can't read posts.

If the post is hidden by a F-Mod then yes the other F-Mods can read it still.

This thread is about the hidden abuse that takes place on the forums
By people who use legit ways of bulling others

If you see any of this or on the recieving end of some of this then you need to use Forum Help thread. The F-Mods and CM Staff will deal with any Bullying and take very firm actions.

If you see ANY posts where a F-Mod has Praised a bully then please use Forum Review thread. In all my 16+ years as a F-Mod here I've never ever seen any of this going on. Ever!

If you see any bullying then Please report it. Our Guidelines give us the powers to remove anyone we feel are breaking the forums rules by bullying others. We can also send a review to Jagex for them to deal with it also. No one wants to be on the end of any bullying and if We as a Community can stop it by reporting it to Forum Help then it needs reporting. Bullying has no place within these forums. You will not get 1 single F-Mod who supports bullying within these forums ever! Trust Me. Remember We go back a long way and I have never lied to you.

If this thread is just about bullying then please use Forum Help. You could even wait on Forum Help for someone to be active so your report isn't seen for hours. Thats what that thread is good for in reporting any issues you feel are hurting the forums or members of the Community. If you don't report it then it will fester and get worse. Report early and it will be stopped.

I really hope this is helping you and others. I really do. Forum Help is a great thread when used to report any issues. It works and works well.

Edited. Fixed a typo someone found funny. Can you spot it. :P

I want to super clarify that I like Nick Osbourne. He is a sincere lover of this game and it shows! He is really convincing. He is 100% not who I mean is the problem with the way that the relevancy of rsof competition reddit gets traction. Its more an industry wide problem that every game company full of artists, coders, sculptors... yknow theyre makin art, and they need filters against... um... me. If I dont like something they did then they should NOT read that, but have what I wrote filtered by a CM.

but think about it on a good year. theyre sitting in cafeteria with like... super heros. Stan Lee. Jack Kirby. People doing content. Heros. Their job is like... mail room. They have to say "I surveiled the public and this is what they think!" and if all of those come from reddit then theyre always going to say "the players find reddit to be x and y relevant." and thats going to, over time, eliminate all of reddit's competiton. imagine a future with all online text about games at reddit. that would be really bad.

like I write too much already, so imagine you had a job eating lunch with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby every day, and you had to read 8 thousand posts by me reviewing their work instead of getting to go look at their work before anybody else. Then also keep it a secret that you got to see their next issues already. Thats a hard row to hoe!

So yes the definition of the job... its a meat grinder. Its a sucker's bet. CMs come from reddit, get ground up, and then turned out. They can't balance the flames, the secrets, and the ones who seem to do it the best have unexamined motives sometimes acting conspiratorally without meaning to... or in many famous cases were corrupt and taking pay.

Thats where the buck of rosf stops. Once Nick is like "okay x and y" then thats as far as it goes from rsof. Between text happy me or you and the CM are the F mods who more regularly communicate... iirc they have to... they have another hidden subforum where attendance is taken...

so there is a fine line between my teasin f mods for being fake customer service crowns, or mad hats, and them calling me a rowdydower, roustabout, pugilist, pain in ass, etc
-vs-
they actually do have to be visible in weird ways like taking attendance. they keep their spot, earn their sneak peeks, etc by showing up. being present. typing things that sometimes seem awkwardly meta cognizant. in their forum they take roll. .

so believe me I understand how you mean to criticize the ambitions of forum users, sycophancy, corruption, etc; but you can't, or at least shouldn't be max levels and glowering at players (with your sig) like anyone is allowed to surveil them all... and do... anything about it. 90% of the internet is lurkers. They do not post anything ever. So we have to use a lot of empathy to imagine how things look to them, and not discourage them from playing, or else we shoot ourselves in the foot. our game shrinks if we do that.

Kerr you missed the boat. The bad actors are the same ones making the reports. The good guys are told to submit an appeal.

But we can see the report, see how they instigated, see how they believe they are a person of authority on the forum and see how they get away with it.

FOR YEARS.
