my only hope is that Jagex continues to fuck up RS3 as much as possible so we get more players on OSRS. The game is so much better!
Strongly disagree with this tbh. OSRS is awful with the horribly outdated graphics, non-engaging gameplay (combat system) and so many other bad things about it.
The only thing I do give it props for is that the content developers and management team behind OSRS are doing a far better job in maintaining the OSRS player base by listening to their feedback and actually implementing what they want.
Would be nice if they slowed down on the cosmetic releases on RS3, and introduced MTX to OSRS so they can share the amount of disliked content, rather than it all going to us.
The only thing RS3 has over OSRS is graphics and many of the quest lines' have better lore.
I don't understand why people's explanations for the high player count is "becuase bots lel" That just goes to show you how trash RS3 that people won't even bother botting on it because it isn't worth it.
Really says a lot when people don't even bother cheating at a game to excel.
If I remember correctly about 1 year ago the number for rs3 was around 35k at peak times.
And yes it is a sign on the wall, when the rats are leaving the ship.
Its just the way things go in life.

I wonder how much of an increase in players that we'll see once RS3 Mobile is fully released on Android and iOS. As it was already mentioned, OSRS Mobile had caused a considerable spike in active players so I wonder what kind of impact RS3 Mobile will have.
We'll see.
I like RS3 for PvM, but OSRS is my game for PvP. I
do
prefer EoC to the old combat system, but when I train combat in OSRS it's nice and relaxing.
At the end of the day, I want both versions of the game to succeed. If one fails, that will certainly hurt the bottom line, and it'd definitely affect the other version in one way or another.

I actually haven't used EOC much anymore. I am presently training str on RS3 and find it better using Legacy. However EOC is great for Mage and Range. It sucks for str though. Nice post about both game. I enjoy playing both games.

Hype for RS3 mobile has long died out, I really doubt the influx of players will be huge. At least, not to the degree of OSRS mobile release. Jagex should've either announced it later or get it out sooner.

lolqa though
but I do agree, they get too hyped up and can't follow through most of the time - just look at how shitty 2017 was for content, RS3 got menaphos and ... what? 120 Slayer with 4 new unique creatures. Yeah, good job ...

do you rlly think rs3 is complicated l0l
When comparing both games' (OSRS and RS3) combat systems, RS3 is more complicated. That's why it's a turn-off for a lot of people. EoC turned a simple game into a more complex one and for many people that was a deal-breaker.
Whether or not RS3 is good doesn't change the fact it is more complex than OSRS when it comes to the combat system. After all, the combat system update is what paved the way for OSRS' release. If EoC never happened, OSRS likely wouldn't exist today.
