Got Hydra pet at like 3800+ kc yday was like w000000t :) pet #21

Then I killed like 1 hour of abyssal demons in RS3 and got that Constitution pet and was like ok I wonder how many pets I have here nvmI don’t care and continued afking. Pretty fun tho to afk alongside doing WT in OSRS and talking to actual people in the game doing an activity together.

They likely don't care. They get money from both games and can even get away with having micro-transactions in one of them. That's possible because there's two versions of the same game. One has the bigger micro-transactions and the other can simply exist without having to utilise it to its full potential.

Both don't need to have full-on MTX because one is already doing well enough with it. Not to mention, they know they'd likely make less money throwing MTX onto OSRS as no heavy MTX is one of its biggest selling points. It's why it's so damn popular really. A game without micro-transactions being the forefront in 2019? That's a shocker, especially an MMO.

Now you have players that like ability-based combat games as well as the click-and-wait combat system playing Runescape. It appeals to a wider audience. That's a good thing I think.

At the end of the day, despite the changes, they've managed to keep people's custom. They may have lost people over the years but they've managed to bring people back. It doesn't matter whether people go to OSRS or RS3, they get your money and can continue on because of it. They're not apart of this "RS3 vs OSRS" war players have created.

People may not like reading this, but saying it anyways. OSRS is actually a simpler game. RS3 really just got too complicated with all the dailies and junk. Well they did start it somewhat on OSRS with the diaries. But it is not quite so bad.

They don't wonder why I think,at least some of the people at jagex they must now.

And yes rs3 got way to complicated, starting with the combat system. That's not why most people played runescape,to play complicated stuff. Jagex nows this, but it was the best way to kill the game and that's why they chose this option.

Tbh I now think they killed rs3 on purpose,i really do.
So many cheats, hacks and rwit had polluted the game over more then a decade that maybe killing it and starting all over again was the only way to clean the game. They wanted to hurt the long time players of runescape because they where all cheats and hacks in jagex eyes,i can not think of other reason. But not everyone was a cheat or hack, not everyones account deserved to die.

Its either that or some ^%$*%^$ developer had this great idea for a game which actually was a horrible idea.
The idea was so bad that it would completely fail as a stand alone so the only way to launch this idea was to make use of the already existing playerbase from an already existing game as those players would stick around for shorter or longer time. Maybe eventually people will like my idea for game, they thought. And years passed by and and the idea only got worse and worse, and the amount of players less and less.

I kinda wish they closed it so I can finally leave this all behind me. it still makes me sad that jagex took the runescape that I loved away from me.

I don't think rs3 is doing well btw,and I don't think jagex sells that many bonds anymore on rs3. It must have been going down pretty fast past 2 years.

And then jagex might say. Well we didn't take game away, you can play old school now.
But if they would say that, then it would only prove how little they understand from the people who play mmorpg for a long time.

Its like a life on its own,a history with friends and things that you did and time that you spend on,you go through several phases when playing a game like this for years. You cant just start over with that, thats not how it works.

my only hope is that Jagex continues to fuck up RS3 as much as possible so we get more players on OSRS. The game is so much better! :) @Chee__RS

Agreed with most of the above posts.

The simplicity, nostalgia, overall enjoyment, better economy, less MTX, less competition and debatably better community keep me in OSRS.

I got one thing to add though. OSRS has some updates were never part of the original game. Some were good. I do like Kourend. But others were quite bad. Like the rewards in the Chambers of Xeric. They were so much op. Twisted bow for one. Yes, I know to get these drops is a lot of work. But people could just buy them at GE if they managed to get the gold somehow. I miss how the game was when there wasn't even GWD yet. Though I will always love Godswords.

Prif is coming in the summer. I really hope it does not turn into a MAX hangout to get 200mil skills quick. Like the one in RS3. Since there are already a lot of Maxed players on OSRS, I would not be surprised.

they dont wonder why, they already know.

The sheer volume of bots that can thrive in the overly simplistic subgame called OSRS

edit: also stupid people dont like complicated things

the popularity of OSRS is as much based on how easy it is for idiots as how easy it is for bots
