Q. 2. Do you play Runescape? Suija Demon
A. I do play RuneScape, and I have a membership account. Though these days to be honest most of my time in game is taking up examining areas that I plan to use in the books! Ah, for the old days were simple goblin bashing was an honest past time!

Q. How would you describe the difference between "Return to Canifis" and the Twilight Novel Series? I am sure many people might put them in the same boat as they both have Vampires and Werewolves. Novis.
A. I have never read any of the Twilight series in truth. I have seen the first film but not any more. However, the difference here is that this is taking place in a world aside from ours, so the fantasy element should be more prevalent.

Q. I'm quite curious to know if there is some form of a "secret" message or code hidden in either the first or second book (or both) that could unravel a special item or location that could only be discovered through the books. Kinda like when the Cryptic Clue Fest began. Gamemaster O
A. That sounds like a great idea! However, one of the absolute core fundamentals in writing the books is that it is supposed to be accessible to all, there can be no exclusivity granted to a player in reading the book over one who hasn't. Still, I'll mention it to the team.

Q. How do you keep your books evenly paced? I mean, I've read books where there's just one thing after another with no break in between, and others who have too many lulls in them, but then, there are yet still others who have their timing just right. Like, action, action, lull, action... I'm not being too clear, am I?
Oh well. Do you have any tips on that? Pacing a book, I mean. Leafsrping 4.
A. Good question. Action is not just about action in my book, drama between the players is just as important as to what happens with a sword or a spell. Combat is really when all else fails and there is no alternative. Otherwise, it becomes too common.

Q. Joking aside, I am curious; what are your thoughts on writing novels with ideas that are already present, that you can kind-of engineer and play around with to make your own? Immortal Me.
A. It's a pro and con. A pro because you have a lot of detail already filled, and in a way you are joining the dots. However, the other side of the same coin is that you are constrained by what happens.

Q. Hi! Fishy here! I'm currently about halfway through Betrayal at Falador, and i have two questions. The first is, why do you exaggerate the distance so much in the book? It's definitly not a 2 days journey from Falador to Taverley, and its maybe 20 feet from Falador to the statue north of it, not a few miles. My second question is, why is adamant so valuable a metal in the book? It takes a high smithing level to make but it is very commonly seen throughout Runescape. Shouldn't the rare metal be runite? Or maybe even dragon? Thanks if you read this! :D Fishy 200000.
A. Hi Fishy. It's all to do with making the world more realistic. If the Kinshra really lived 2 minutes from Falador it wouldn't really work very well. Therefore the whole world has been expanded on a scale to make it comparable to real life history, such as that of the Anglo Saxon Heptachy or the Romans vs Etruscans where enemies were literally days away. Secondly, did you have an adamant sword when you started playing? I want the characters to exist first and foremost, before the weapons.

Q. 3. I love the aspect were experienced players would know the fastest way to Taverly and others might not. I found myself arguing with the book saying "Go to the freaken estate agent down the street and change you house to Taverly and tele!"
That being said, will Return to Canfis have the same "interactive reading"so to speak? Kara Meir 93
A. Hi Kara, you sound familiar! Return should be similar to Betrayal in the way you mention.

Q. 1. How old are you? You don't have to give a complete answer, just say in 20's, 30's, etc. Private Bob.
A. I'm 31. The days of my youth are far behind me now....just need a warm fire and a cup of Varrock's best ale and I'll be fine.

Q. So, my question is this: What was your first piece of writing which you can clearly remember? White Lsword
A. I vandalised one of my older brother's art books years ago when I was four or five. He had drawn the story of a cat, and very skillfully too, and I went and added some words. He didn't talk to me for a month afterward.....it's a sore point to this day.
