Well, if it would actually get functional cross-platform support this would be a perfectly reasonable idea...
Then again, I fear this would be just as frustrating to get working correctly as any other anything using my microphone, those things are a pain to set up when they refuse to provide functional drivers and stuff.
If it can find a way to just work though, this would be very nice. The number of commonly used, 100% free (as in truly free) installed voice programs that work well is fairly slim, the number that work on not-Windows is likely even fewer yet.
So yeah, as long as it worked on all the things, I might almost be disappointed to have not been here for it...
By the way, would people who can't get microphones to work (or even don't have them, for that matter) still be allowed to join and listen and type back to everyone who can talk? For fast typists, this would make everyone else's responses much quicker, even if only half of the people get to do the talking.

Also, maybe it's just me, but the link that goes here directly seemed to make the page display as if I weren't logged in (which since the forums don't consistently remember what page you're on when you try to click log in is irritating) so thought I'd mention that.

Lastly: Thank you for reducing the number of things focusing so heavily on the Wilderness to half of the ones that get that spot on the home page.

Okay, so maybe I didn't actually mean lastly, that poll wanted me to log in. Where did the links to those polls go, I hadn't been able to vote in anything for ages because the links went away to the login-only ones...
