this is a awful idea. i dont want to listen to these kids that play now all they do is whine and complain enough as it is. keep runescape how it is.
voice chat will lead to more and more issues regarding racism bad language and people just acting dumb. u get 300 people in the grand exchange with it on, ur going to lag out and not beable to think str8. its a bad idea.

I use Skype :) Its nice to hear what my friends sound like & being able to talk to them after knowing for many years ^_^
As for Rs having it, it would be nice for some Quest groups/Bosses/Dungeoneering/Mini games.

I use it for other games, and platforms. I wouldn't mind it coming for RuneScape as long as it had mute and report features. I also think it should be kept as public chat, an not for private chat, as it will most likely end up being used as a tool for solicitation and cybering. If it stays public, it can be monitored by other players, and such feature can be used appropriately.

Francisg777 you would be amazed how large the community of voice chat and even broadcasting a live feed on runescape is. I use a place called tinychat(sorry if this counts towards avert if it does) theirs a fair community there of runescape players. alot of people use skype, xfire and that stuff. whats left of the old community of rs from 05-07 plays well. dont take us lightly :)

Nice to see the big polls back! I thought you'd removed them entirely, when the link to them vanished from the homepage.

Although I've never used voice chat in anything before, I've used Skype generally, to communicate with friends and relatives.
I can see it being a useful feature for clans. It should not be used as a general game feature though. Firstly, you can't run voice through a profanity filter, so it would be perfect for a clan environment where the clan leaders have a say in what language is acceptable.
Secondly, if everyone could use it anywhere, places like the Grand Exchange would be unbearably and incoherently noisy :)
The Empty Lord is a figment of the imagination of gullible people who started worshipping the purple Elder Bathrobe. The name and symbol comes from the washing label: Za-ros means "Do not dry clean".

Omg! YESSSS!!!
This has been long anticipated as an update from this end. There are just so many positives that can be had with such a feature - being able to contact freely with friends/clan mates while still having your hands on the keyboard and moust when doing something like Slayer or killing a boss monster, the much more accurate and fluid capability of giving out orders/instructions when working on minigames or Dungeoneering, and the ease of recording voices for machinima videos in safety instead of through third party services.
Yes yes! This ticks a hell of a lot of boxes for Akhet. ^_^
The only thing that would sour it a great deal for myself and I assume quite a big part of the rest of the community, would be any additional charges with such a service. Hopefully, this will be a free service and additional priviledge under membership cost.
You'll also need a pretty good way to monitor it too. The odd swear here and there is bound to slip the tounge of even the best of us, and in my opinion that's no biggie. But those with extremely offensive vocabularies or those few perverse types that prey on people will need to be controlled thoroughly.
If you can overcome those hurdles, I see this as being one of the best updates you can ever make to your game. It has advantages for both company and players.
Hell yes. 100% support!! :D :D

Whilst I'm not against the idea of using a RuneScape VoIP client, it'd have to have some sort of use beyond just allowing people to chat to each other. We've got Mumble, Teamspeak, Skype, Ventrilo, Steam and god knows what else already out there that just allows people to chat, and I don't see what you or any of us would gain from introducing your own.
That said, I can see a use for various tools that would rely on voice communication. Maybe some sort of Dungeoneering coordinator that'd work as an overlay, displaying an interactive map where people can add notes, point out useful supplies, and mark out doors requiring keys. That would then allow you to create dungeons two or three times the size of the ones that already exist and give teams the tools to coordinate them. VoIP would then be a logical feature of that program, rather than its main functionality.
TL;DR, don't just make another VoIP tool because that's what all the cool kids are doing. Make yours useful for something.

I would LOVE voice chat. However, if not developed well, it could be horrendous.
Since language relaxations, I have not been able to enjoy the atmosphere in Runescape as much as before. While I would love to be able to voice chat with friends, I would absolutely hate to be subjected to offensive language from others.
