Overall, good idea, but with some needs.
1- Should NOT slow down game play. With experience I know that skype and others slow down gameplay and that just isnt good if your fighting something.
2- Should NOT be extra money. If your a paying member, it should be included! You dont charge us for the extra quests or other member benefits!
* Yes I know we have to pay but not for certain services*
3- Should have a voice changing option. Some people do not want to have other people hear their voice, and they have their reasons. All you would have to do is give a few options, not a lot, but just to give people some variety.
This is all in my opinion of what I think would be needed, so dont hate.

well jagex just managed to pull their head out of the box into the average gamers prefs the last few years. its not because "its what the cool kids are doing" considering they have been updating just about every week since 2001. id think its fair to say they are still learning

voice chat- great idea! BUT. be careful or it might end up like cod, e.g. people swearing, babies in the background and other stuff so there will need some significant updates to the abuse and report system, either with or just before this update.

Do I like the idea: Yes!
Do I use voice chat while i play: Yes!
although there would be a problem.
- Overpowering voices ( so many people talking at once )
- Fix this by simply adding a party option. Such as the
one used in Dungeoneering. This way you can only talk
to people in your party. ( Eg. Being at the Grand
Exchange and having way
too many voices at once )

Other then that. Great idea.

I'd never pay for rs voice program when there is skype.
Plus if it was free I would just troll the prepubescent kids acting tough
Bad idea with some good,I guess...
Plus I don't want to have to be on RS to voice chat, as I play other online games insted of RS but still skype with friends on RS.

Totally!!!! Personally I always use 'voice chat' calls on my messengers while playing RuneScape. Usually if one of my friends is doing the same quest as me...Or if i'm filming a video it's so much easier to tell them what to do rather then to quickly say "GO" in the filmin orb and make the chat go away when filming... Also on Jake's comment.. if people don't want their voice heard chances are they won't use it. Also a voice changer would be kind of creepy. I have collected over 50 cats in OSRS

I don't use voice chat and if Runescape gets it I still won't use it.
I'm not against other people getting it as I know this will be an update enjoyed by many but will there be things I can't do because I won't voice chat? What about my friends that want me to voice chat and get mad when I won't? I've already had friends try to get me to do voice chat but I wouldn't.
