Is there a reason why mumble, free & open source and rising, voice chat client isn't included in the list? it even has "who's online / chatting" support ingame for runescape, since it's in the browser and mumble manages to squeeze it in for most browsers :)
My opinion about voice chat is: use tools for what they're made for: Use voice chat clients, they have 'embedding' options, or other way around: create plugin access for voice chats to work better with runescape. But I don't see why jagex would invest in creating an entire voice system
game voicesystems fail: poor voice chat managing skills (ban / mute / kick / ******** / ..)
Examples of failures:
- source engine games: kiddies with < 13yo voices screaming and shouting names
- battlefield: ingame chat hardly gets used
- many mmo's have the option but it hardly gets used

I think voice chat is a great idea, alot of other games require you to use voice chat when doing group events and it's just not possible to type and play without dying, i dont think it is as needed for Runescape as it is for other games in that respect, but if you intend to make harder group bosses then Nex that require alot of tactics, then voice chat would be a huge advantage.

It seems like you're really making some massive improvments this year, free trade, wildy, language filter options and now voice chat? keep up the good work :)
Also a quick suggestion while your making these amazing updates - I would love to see some sort of multiplayer duel arena such as 2v2 or even higher numbers such as 5v5+ with the option to also stake or get a rank within the highscores. This type of thing is very popular in alot of other games and i belive it would work really well in Runescape. :)

It's a very great idea. Everytime we organise something to do with group we have to use programs to speak because writing at critical moments really bad.
So in my opinion if you making the voice chat it will improve Runescape gameplay 1000 times.

As a member of runescapes older population I wouldn't want and wouldn't use VoiceChat at all. It's my opnion that it crosses the line between online anonymity and reality and as such doesn't interest me. I can't see many parents being too thrilled at the idea of their precious little darlings rabbiting away on headphones and a mic to much older players either.
To be honest theres enough "omg you're an [internet predator]" insults thrown at the older members of runescape, I can only see voicechat making that even worse.

Just my two cents, not that its worth anything.

I won't pay for it and will never use it. I don't do voice chat online.
What is going to happen to the people that don't want to or can't use it? I'm not really into team things but I can imagine someday needing to do something in a group and not being allowed because of this. I'll probably have friends disappointed that I won't use it too.

I use skype for voice chat with my closes rs friends when we do dungeons. And that is really the one activity that is greatly improved with voice chat.
I think that if you were going to implement it, possibly have a channel for the current floor you are in, as well as a separate one for clan chats.
Also don't force people to listen in if they don't want to. Once entering a cc, make it so one must click to enter the voice channel. Some people don't want to hear others voices while playing RS.

I think voice chat should be optional but make sure that your talking is also showing up in game for those who cant use the voice chat but make it only for clans since i dont want random people knowing my voice. Also make it for both free to play and members. since some f2p and p2p are in the same clan. if you do that make the thing free
