A letter bearing the seal of the Grand Duke of Sarimia and his family arrived at the Castle of Camelot, where it would be addressed to the new king and his court. Upon it, it read:
"To the King Xel Praven of the Camelites,
In the brief time that I had to know your predecessor, King Tommen Calderon, we had made agreements which set a foundation for peace between our two nations. Despite his Hand's threats towards my life, when you and I met at my wedding, you seemed reasonable and level-headed, capable of diplomacy and a true leader among your people.
So I write to you bewildered and concerned that I might have gave you any reason to proceed with such undiplomatic conduct in my court, when your representative, Jekyll Vortivask, demanded that we pay tribute to your kingdom, and that I pledge loyalty to you as if you were an emperor. When I declined and dismissed him from my court, he made it clear to me that he, and so you, did not intend to act in the interest of peace and prosperity as your predecessor did.
After meeting with the Kharidian Caliph, Tumuh, we have come to an agreement that we must handle this matter with the utmost interest in ending this conflict before it begins. I invite you to meet with me in the Palace of the Caliph in Al Kharid, which His Holiness has so graciously offered as neutral ground, so that we may resolve the matter under his mediation. Let us bring these tensions down, and return ourselves once more to normal."
Your friend and ally,
His Highness,
Grand Duke of Sarimia,
Stephen Lavelle,
Protector of the Realm,
Duke of Laveranne
Hi, I'm Dan.
