In the days that followed the chaotic Battle of Vermillion, talk of the burned vermillion fields and scarred castle would spread throughout the port. If one were so curious they'd go and find miles of trees and grass of black, and the castle still smoking.
On only the third day after the battle during The Hooded Lady's recovery, a letter would find it's way to the ship's captain's quarters - Aeldrin, likely being an expert on symbols, flags and seals on the seas, would recognise the green wax seal on this envelope as the druid's stamp. The druid's of Taverly rarely sent letters; they kept themselves to themselves and rarely intervened with the rest of the world's politics. They had only Burthorpe to thank for letting them live so close to their grounds, but nevertheless, a letter was sent, and it could only mean urgency.
TO THE HOODED LADY,
I am Kelvin Shakespear Mathers, though you may know me as the old green man, the old seer, or the High Druid of Taverly. I pray that you have survived the carnage my altar has shown me, that fiery battle at Skipper's End. Rest well, you are a victor. However, more danger lurks to the north and I ask that you come soon to aid the world some more. It owes you enough, and I know you are not a religious man, I have been watching you for a while, my power allows me such sight, but this is urgent.
As seers we are able to see things we do not always wish to and my altar lends me an eye into the past and future too - it is a window for us to see the world but we have chosen throughout our history to let it be. The Imperials of Burthorpe have asked us to leave Taverly as the threat of trolls grows with each day though we insist on staying as close to the wilderness as possible. I fear out there in the dark north lies the grave answer to what I have seen, what is so evil, what is so important, are you asking that?
