Sorcery and Magical Bloodlines
°ï¦ï° ¯¨`'•=.,,.=•'`¨¯,.=•'`¨¯

Magic is a part of every sorcerer, suffusing body, mind and spirit with a latent power that waits to be tapped. Some sorcerers wield magic that srpings from an ancient bloodline infused with the magic of dragons. Others carry a raw, uncontrolled magic within them, a chaotic storm that manifests in unexpected ways. Some sorcerers can't name the origin of their power, while others trace it to strange events in their own lives. The touch of a demon, the blessing of a dryad at a baby's birth, or a taste of the water from a mysterious spring might spark the gift of sorcery. So too might the gift of a deity of magic, exposure to the elemental forces beyond Gielinor or the maddening chaos of the Abyss grant these powers. ~ Magical Bloodlines, the Origins of Sorcery*

Sorcerers are unlike the traditional studious and learned Wizards. A sorcerer's power comes naturally to them from the influence of magic in their bloodline some time in the past. Because of this natural connection sorcerers will often have powers that seem beyond that of a normal mage but may have less control or a more limited set of spells or resources to draw on compared to a "book" mage.

Draconic Bloodlines
°ï¦ï° ¯¨`'•=.,,.=•'`¨¯,.=•'`¨¯

Practiced for centuries in their isolated Dragontooth Island the Draconic Shamans have been performing rituals and weaving spells to grant them the powers of Dragons and the Dragonkin in order to better worship and follow the draconic ways. These skills include taking on draconic traits like enhanced vision, scales and dragon hide that resists various elemental magics, and eventually even being able to spew forth dragon fire or take flight on dragon wings ~ Practices of the Draconic Shamans

A sorcerer of a draconic bloodline can trace their ancestry back to either a dragon parent or an ancestor making a pact with dragons or dragonkin for greater power or control over dragons. Sorcerers of these bloodlines take on the traits of the dragons they are connect with and gain both their abilities and an affinity with the dragons themselves.

Fae Bloodlines
°ï¦ï° ¯¨`'•=.,,.=•'`¨¯,.=•'`¨¯

A Fae sorcerer draws their powers from a connection to Zanaris and the Fae inhabitants of its otherworldly dimension. Fae are fickle creatures and by extension the powers they give have the same chaotic nature, often having unknown or unplanned consequences upon use. Fae will often mark or "bless" mortals with their magic purely for entertainment value and most Fae sorcerers will have contact with their Fae "parent" on special occasions or dire circumstances ~ A Mortal's Interaction with Zanaris

Fae sorcerers are beacons for chaos. Their magic is both powerful and unpredictable often working out in strange or unintended ways leading to these sorcerers being more reserved and careful with their spells knowing full well that they could also be in danger if something goes wrong. However Fae being the least hazardous to deal with lead many would be sorcerers to aim to gain favor with them and become part of this bloodline.

Divine Bloodlines
°ï¦ï° ¯¨`'•=.,,.=•'`¨¯,.=•'`¨¯

Sometimes the spark of magic that fuels a sorcerer comes from a divine source that glimmers within the soul. Having such a favored soul, the innate magic might come from a distant but powerful familial connection to a divine being. Perhaps your ancestor was a herald to a god, transformed into a mortal and sent to fight in that god's name. Or your birth might align with an ancient prophecy, marking you as a servant of the gods or a chosen vessel of divine magic. ~ Chosen of the Gods*

There are times when beings are chosen as agents of the gods and are granted powers far beyond that of a normal mortal. Sorcerers of the Divine bloodline might not a direct follower of a god or deity but are influenced and directed by that unseen hand whether they like it or not. Their powers though similar to a cleric's are often less controlled and ritualistic having a more direct connection to the deity making them both powerful and dangerous if wielded incorrectly.

Elemental Bloodlines
°ï¦ï° ¯¨`'•=.,,.=•'`¨¯,.=•'`¨¯

Occasionally magic manifests within mortals without the influence or a higher being. Some mortals are just born with a natural affinity for a base element and have the ability to channel and control it like no others. Their bonds with magic are considered to be the more rare and pure but not much is known of how one becomes connected with an elemental force. ~ Elementalists, A Guide

Sorcerers of the Elemental bloodlines have a natural affinity towards one of the base elements that make up the world. Their connection allows them to better manipulated, control, and create this element as well as interact with entities of that element. Due to this connection they are conduits for energy and are occasionally hunted by tyrannical mages as living batteries. There is no true way to gain an elemental bloodline and human experimentation to create one has been outlawed by generations.

Warlocks and Pact Magic
°ï¦ï° ¯¨`'•=.,,.=•'`¨¯,.=•'`¨¯

A warlock is defined by a pact with an otherworldly being. Sometimes the relationship between warlock and patron is like that of a cleric and a deity, though the beings that serve as patrons for warlocks are not gods. A warlock might lead a cult dedicated to a demon, or an utterly alien entity - beings not typically served by clerics. More often, though, the arrangement is similar to that between a master and an apprentice. The warlock learns and grows in power, at the cost of occasional services performed on the patron's behalf.
~ Pact Magic, Deals with Non-Deities*

A Warlock is granted their magic power (or enhanced magic power) due to their arrangement with a non-divine being granted them powers that no other mages have access to but often forcing them into services with their powerful magical beings in order to pay their debt to their benefactor. These tasks range by the patron, with Fae masters often wanting mischief or protection of nature to Demonic masters wanting more bloodthirsty and destructive tasks.

Fae Pacts
°ï¦ï° ¯¨`'•=.,,.=•'`¨¯,.=•'`¨¯

Your patron is a lord or lady of the Fae, a creature of legend who holds secrets that were forgotten before the mortal races were born. This being's motivations are often inscrutable, and sometimes whimsical, and might involve a striving for greater magical power or settling of age-old grudges. ~ A mysterious book found near a toadstool ring entitled, Your Fae Patron and You.

Fae Warlocks draw their power from a specific powerful Fae entity, usually a Zanaris noble or other ancient fairy. They gain powers of glamour and illusion with the ability to charm or terrify those in their way. Most Fae make pacts for ridiculous reasons often with misdirecting terms of the pact or asking for non-material items in trade such as memories or feelings. Being a Fae Warlock is often safer than other pacts as Fae patrons rarely ask their minions to perform overtly dangerous tasks.

Fiendish Pacts
°ï¦ï° ¯¨`'•=.,,.=•'`¨¯,.=•'`¨¯

You have made a pact with a fiend from the lower planes of existence, a being whose aims are evil, even if you strive against those aims. Such beings desire the corruption or destruction of all things, ultimately including you ~ A book bound in tanned human flesh found at the edge of the Wilderness

Great powers are bestowed upon those that make pacts with fiends but at a great cost. Dominion over darkness and hellfire is granted but at the mercy of cruel and conniving task masters. Fiends are the most active of patrons demanding much of their minions and not tolerating failure well. Fiends will make pacts for almost any reasons often asking steep prices of those that seek a pact.

Eldritch Pacts
°ï¦ï° ¯¨`'•=.,,.=•'`¨¯,.=•'`¨¯

And in the days of old Tsuth'tanthoth, the Black Pharaoh stalked the land speaking horrific nothings into the ears of dreamers and speaking of the chaos yet to come. As he was the messenger of the Dark One who's name may not be spoken in this plane. The manic piping of a pale fleshy being keeps the Dark One resting so that he may not devour reality upon waking ~ Parables of Oblivion, translated from Ancient Mahjarrat

Warlocks that make pacts with the Eldritch beings of the universe must search far and wide as the elder things beyond planes do not speak easily. Those that brave the unknown horrors between the planes are granted mysterious powers that defy the traditional understand of magics. Elder beings often do not agree to terms of a pact, instead intimidate those they encounter to join them for power or face doom. An Eldritch patron may ask for strange and bizarre tasks to be completed but be assured that it is part of a millennia old plan that goes beyond mortal understanding.

Weapon Pacts
°ï¦ï° ¯¨`'•=.,,.=•'`¨¯,.=•'`¨¯

And I heard the blade whisper to me deep in the recesses of my mind. It said: "You are very lucky to have found me mortal for I am ageless and powerful beyond your wildest dreams. Wield me and I shall make you a king among men and you shall have all that you desire"
Fearing the blade I tossed it aside not seeing the glory that the blade spoke of, leaving it for another more ambitious being to deal with
~ Journal of a Nameless Bard, found near White Wolf Mountain

There are many sentient magic weapons that are lost in the dark places of the world or guarded jealously in private vaults. Some may have been enchanted to think for themselves, some might have had souls bound within them, but most seek use and are willing to offer powers beyond what is normally capable in exchange for wielding them. Weapon Pacts are usually made by accident or stumbled upon without fully realizing their importance or implications. Most weapons seek to be used or to be released from their bindings within the weapon asking their minions to work towards goals that align with the weapon's morals or goals.
