The School of Abjuration emphasizes magic that blocks, banishes, or protects. Detractors of this school say that its tradition is about denial, negation rather than positive assertion. You understand, however, that ending harmful effects, protecting the weak, and banishing evil influences is anything but a philosophical void. It is a proud and respected vocation.
Called abjurers, members of this school are sought when baeful spirits require exorcism, when important locations must be guarded against magical spying, and when portals to other planes of existence must be closed.

Abjuration is the magic is considered to be the most acceptable form of magic in modern society. Abjurers are often part of royal guilds or accepted magical associations that they provide an essential services to non-magic users by banishing or removing hostile forces.

School of Conjuration

The school of conjuration favors spells that produce objects and creatures out of thin air. You can conjure billwing clouds of killing fog or summon creatures elsewhere to fight on your behalf. As a conjuerers mastery grows, they skill at conjuring not only objects grows but their gain the skill to open portals to teleport across vast distances, even to other planes of existence in an instant. ~ From the Conjurer's Almenak*

Conjuration evolved naturally as a more academic approach to summoning as opposed to the traditional practices of the druids. Pioneered by the Order of Void Knight during their conflict with the Void Parasites, Conjurers summon beings or objects from either this plane or other locations such as the Spirit Plane, the Abyss, or the Void. Conjurers are less common than other forms of mages since magic was edged out of common practice, most conjuration takes place in its more traditional beginnings but there are a few academic conjurers that still practice their craft away from the prying eyes of the kingdoms.

The counsel of a diviner is sought by royalty and commoners alike, for all seek a clearer undersstanding of the past, present, and future. Diviners strive to part the veils of space, time, and consciousness to see it clearly. They work to master spells of discernment , remote viewing, supernatural knowledge and foresight. ~ History of the Seers*

Divination is an ancient and well practiced school of magic best known for its popularity in central Kandarin in the aptly named Seer's Village. Due to it's cultural significance and large population, Seer's Village is a haven for diviners and mages with the ability to see beyond normal perception. Outside of its native home most diviners are seen as people to be feared or hated as often they are considered to be fake or charlatans as many cheats walk the lands offering knowledge of the future in exchange for coin.

School of Enchantment

Members of the School of Enchanment have honed their ability to magically imbue powers within objects to enhance or change their intended ability or entrance and beguile other people and monsters. Enchantment being a magic requiring interaction with the physical realm is considered to be one of the forms of practical magic along with Transmutation, Runic Lore, and Artifice leading it to be one of the more lucrative schools to study in. ~ Enchanting, the Basics*

Enchantment was considered a noble art even until the Silver Age of Magic in Gielinor. Magical items and enchantments were used in everyday tasks making life simpler and easier. However due to the resentment towards magic many Enchanters have found themselves without work, taking on jobs either menial or amoral in nature in order to simply pay their expenses. There are still few Enchanters with lucrative businesses, those that cater to clientele that seek to protect or redirect attention, interest, or harm from objects, items, and locations valuable to those who can pay.

Evocation is the most commonly known form of magic as it was one of the most popular and became to be one of the most feared. Evokers as they are known are skilled at summoning and controlling the energies of the natural world which makes them adept in combat. Formerly entire guilds of combat mages would gather together to train and to combat deadly monsters but now being a non-state sponsored Evoker is a dangerous path to walk. Access to nearly limitless dangerous power makes even the strongest of heart hesitate.

Illusion is a dangerous art. In the Golden Age of Magic Illusionists were considered to be performers and artists creating wild images and dreamscapes that entertained and delights. However since the crackdown on magic illusions have become frivolous or dangerous in the eyes of the law. Many illusionists were forced underground into criminal underworlds where their unique magic had many uses.

The School of Necromancy explores the cosmic forces of life, death, and undeath. As one focuses their studies in this tradition, one learns to manipulate the energy that animates all living things. As progress is made, one learns to sap the life force from a creature as magic destroys its body, transforming that vital energy into magical power that can be manipulated. Most people see necromancers as menacing or even villainous, due to the close association with death. The practice of dark magicks including but limited to the act of blood magick, chaos magick, and magick that returns the soul of the deceased or animated a dead body here known as necromancie is a crime against Saradomin, Guthix, and civilization. Those found guilty of this offense are to be tried and condemned to be burned at the stake as heretics for their crimes and all lands and property belonging to the offender are considered forfeit to the crown.

Necromancy is the only truly illegal form of magic available for wizards to learn. Though the practice of magic has become rather taboo it is the shared belief by all kingdoms and even most of the magic associations when they still existed that necromancy was considered unwholesome and wrong leading to its banning and harsh punishments for those who practiced it.

School of Transmutation

A student of Transmutation modifies energy and matter. To an Alchemist the world is not a fixed thing, but eminently mutable, and delight in being that agent of change. Alchemists wield the raw stuff of creations and learn to alter both physical forms and mental qualities. This magic gives the tools to become a smith on reality's forge. Some Transmuters and Alchemists are tinkerers and pranksters, turning people into toads and transforming copper into silver for fun and occasional profit. Others pursue their magical studies with deadly seriousness, seeking the power of the gods to make and destroy worlds. ~ Transmutation, the Laws of Equivalent Exchange*

Transmuters and Alchemists practice magic that changes the qualities of existing items and in this way practice what is called practical magic. To a Transmuter nothing is permanent and everything can be changed or modified to fit a better end goal that its original. However this sentiment is not currently shared by society and like their brethren in the school of Illusion many transmuters and alchemists have been forced into a criminal life where their skills of conversion and modification have become invaluable for individuals with less savory morals.

School of Runic Lore

A Rune Carver masters the secrets of the runes of power - ancient sigils that embody the fundamental magic of creation. Much of these secrets have been lost, and what lore remains is jealously guarded. Few Rune Carvers share their lore with others and finding willing teachers is no easy task. Runic Lore is considered to be one of the more respectable schools of magic in this modern era it can be purely pursued academically instead of through practical experimentation. School of Artifice

Every artificer is defined by a specific craft. Artificers see mastering the basic methods of a craft as the first step to true progress, the invention of new methods and approaches. Some artificers are engineers, students of invention and and warfare who craft deadly magic weapons and tools. Other artificers are focused on building supplies and objects that are used to benefit society. Artifice is a mixture of enchantment and ruinic sciences where the combination of glyphic magics and imbuing of objects with magic. ~ A Jester's Guide to Artifice

The Silver Age of Magic was the last widespread influx of artificers in Gielinor. Originally starting out as Thaumaturgy or the magic of the divines it quickly grew as a respectable and profitable profession the best joining artificing guilds the most famous being Thaumtech that persists to this day though in a lesser capacity that it formerly did.
