elon musk is a controversial person. on one hand I couldn't stand him desperately tryin to get attention during that cave diving episode. on the other hand it's refreshing to see him fire all the twitter staff and make videos laughing about their #staywoke shirts. the shenanigans he has revealed at twitter hq are also incredibly concerning to me Buy Zemomarks / Chromatic Partyhats safely here

It's amazing how some people these days can use a word without knowing its definition, and still expect to be taken seriously. When questioned on the matter it's all about personal interpretation. I think it's a euphemism. I don't know why I was asked about it because I don't personally use it. I should have put it in quotation marks. The age of chivalry is gone; that of sophisters, economists, and calculators has succeeded, and the glory of Europe is extinguished forever.

The term seems to have originated in "being awake to potential offense". From there, 'to be woke' became a pejorative term for those who were awake.

The pejorative aspect is of course entirely dependent on the speaker. Some people would actgually say that being awake to (i.e. aware of) something negative is a good thing, while those who use 'woke' as a pejorative clearly would not; as a result, the word says a lot about the mindset of the user.

Which brings us neatly back on topic to Elon Musk, whose mindset is apparently that those who try to be considerate of others are mentally ill. A fascinating insight into the man's approach to life, wouldn't you say?
