^ But I think that article sums it up well. He's hoping to move Twitter's main revenue stream into the data it has for AI learning vs advertising and they've obviously detected a large amount of traffic from AI companies scraping the site essentially taking this 'data' for free, which they/Musk is trying to limit.

It's a balancing act plus a challenge to find the right solution that both prevents such scraping without (currently) hurting advertising.

I think that having caused a huge drop-off in advertising revenue he's just desperately trying to find something to monetize, and that's why he's interested in selling the data.

His behaviour is a classic case of not understanding the business you're in.

Marketing genius Elon has apparently decided that he wishes to completely replace the corporate image of one of the world's most instantly recognisable brands, Twitter, with an 'X' on a dark background. Oh, and get rid of the name, too.

According to the BBC, apparently tweets are going to be renamed "x's".
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-66284304


This means that instead of referencing a Twitter tweet, we'll have to refer to "an X x". Unbelievably stupid.
