You demonstrated your own bias by "telling your stories" about what I think, which didn't match reality at all. It's a clear demonstration of bias. Political bias is everywhere, and you can't expect a topic that's centered around politics to not produce results about politics and political bias. The whole lawsuit is entirely political, including the settlement. There are a lot of big players involved in this lawsuit, not just Fox News and Dominion, and there's far more going on here than the ultimatum you presented and attempted to pigeonhole me into:

So which is it? They did something wrong which resulted in them paying one of the most historical payouts in history? Or they did nothing wrong and they just paid that out anyways for some unknown reason?
To use your own words:

This isn't black and white, there's shades of grey and there's an element of judgement
This entire lawsuit and settlement is far more involved than you think, and involved far more big players than just the plaintiff and defendant, that no doubt put serious pressure and influence on the outcome.
To arrive at a legitimate answer to the question:

Do you think this was a good settlement?
you have to look at the totality of everything involved and surrounding this lawsuit and settlement. It's not just a "yes or no" question. The question shouldn't be "Was it good?". The question should be "What just happened?".

When I previously said I don't understand the defence of Fox News, I'm specifically referring to this lawsuit and settlement as they themselves acknowledged wrong-doing, so how someone after that fact can challenge if there was indeed wrong-doing, I don't know. That's all I am referring to, specifically.
You've taken reality, and you've applied political bias to it to present the story which doesn't reflect reality.
What Fox said:
Original message details are unavailable.
We acknowledge the Court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false.
Your version of the story:

:
Fox News had to settle a defamation lawsuit because they knew damn well they were in the wrong about willingly and knowingly spouting completely baseless lies (as is common place for them) against another company.

A news company openly defamed and lied about another company

Fox did lie, they acknowledged as much
Where in Fox's statement does it say they admit wrongdoing or admit to lying? They didn't. They stated that "certain claims about Dominion" were false. You don't know which claims are being referenced, or who made those claims.
Yet, you've twisted the statement to be "Fox knew they were lying and acknowledged it", when in reality, the claims being referenced as false were most likely made by other people during the reporting of the stories, and not by Fox News or their reporters themselves, and Fox never acknowledged any wrongdoing.
If you're reporting on a story, and someone provides an interview, how is the wrongdoing of the media outlet for reporting the statements being made by a high level politician, even if those statements are false? If you're reporting on a certain politician, and they're making claims, how is it your fault for reporting their views and claims?

people are still wanting to defend fox news after everything?
damn, how weird
its just a weird cult now. the mental gymnastics they are doing is incredible.
Have you read the lawsuit?
its not just about the lawsuit lmao
they are a terrible programme. that just want people in fear. and will lie to do it.
but yes i have
do you try defend it just because you have followed them all this time? and to come to terms with that they are not a news channel, would be a hard pill to swallow? so you are doing everything you can to not get to that conclusion, knowing all that time watching them was a waste of time and more harmful than anything?
or is it because it just gives you confirmation bias on your ideas already? even though its not a news channel.
im glad i dont live in america so no one watches fox news where i live. as it does seem to be a poison for americans only.

Your bias is showing. You might want to tuck that back in.
It's so weird that you'd say things like:

We have GBeebies in the UK which is pretty much an imitation of Fox News, perhaps not as toxic but it's very close. It's all in the name of convincing people to hate their neighbours. We do have Ofcom to at least hold them accountable, though.

Bro they literally paid $800 million to settle a lawsuit before it went to trial

Pre-trial: "We believe the facts support our case..."
If they win: "We are pleased with the judge's ruling..."
If they lose: "We strongly disagree the judge's ruling and plan to appeal..."
There is no upside to admitting wrongdoing, so of course they won't, even if they settle or lose.
