Good news about reduction in transmission as a result of vaccination published today.

https://www.astrazeneca.com/content/astraz/media-centre/press-releases/2021/covid-19-vaccine-astrazeneca-confirms-protection-against-severe-disease-hospitalisation-and-death-in-the-primary-analysis-of-phase-iii-trials.html
Wow. 100%, eh? The vaccine manufacturer is claiming the vaccine is 100% effective?

I call BS. Anyone claiming 100% efficacy is lying to you. It's statistically impossible.

EDIT: BTW, this news from the vaccine manufacturer confirms that the general public are the test subjects.

And? I was talking about transmission, specifically:

"First indication of reduction in disease transmission of up to 67%"

"The analysis also showed the potential for the vaccine to reduce asymptomatic transmission of the virus, based on weekly swabs obtained from volunteers in the UK trial. The data showed that PCR positive readings were reduced by 67% (CI: 49%, 78%) after a single dose, and 50% (CI: 38% to 59%) after the two dose regimen, supporting a substantial impact on transmission of the virus."

True efficacy cannot be determined until the vaccine has been widely deployed. What is important for now is the finding from preliminary testing.

The UK is going to trial mixing vaccine types

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55924433

Its not a new idea, its been done with other diseases such as hepatitis and measles. This is mentioned in the article.

edit to add: I think it seems a sensible idea to stimulate the immune system in more than one way

I'm calling out the BS 100% claimed by Astrazeneca. And you agree with me. So what's the issue? O_o

Literally in big black letters at the top the article:

Original message details are unavailable.

COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca confirms 100% protection against severe disease, hospitalisation and death in the primary analysis of Phase III trials

That's a complete BS claim. They're manipulating the general public into believing that if they get the vaccine, they will have 100% protection.

In reality, what's going to happen is that they'll start the counter at 100%, and slowly decrease the % as the data comes in from the general public.

This is one of those statements where they can claim "Ah, but technically, it's currently true, therefore it isn't misinformation", yet, it's entirely designed to mislead people.

It's manipulation.
I'm better than you, but that doesn't mean you're not great! :)

While the exact number of the immunocompromised worldwide is unknown, estimates suggest that about 10 million live in the U.S. alone, or around 3 percent of the national population:

Well I guess we should try this?
Drink a smoothie, wash our hands and say that there's no Covid in the UK and, miraculously, there won't be:
