It could be quite a while before I'm invited to get the jab. My husband is just 4 months older than I am but at the moment he's in group 5 and I'm in group 7. I'll just have to wait and see how things progress.
I have a friend whose husband had the 1st shot of the vaccine 2 days ago and they did hers too as she'd gone with him in case he went wobbly. Another friend is due to have her 1st shot next week although she has to travel 22 miles to get it. Compared to some people that isn't too bad and at least she has a car and can drive

Vitamin D and COVID 19: The Evidence for Prevention and Treatment of Coronavirus
https://youtu.be/ha2mLz-Xdpg

Find yourself a sunbeam.

(or supplements)
I know most of you (if not all) won't bother to watch this video. It's an hour long.... it's a medical lecture... there are no car chases or explosions... just two medical professors with graphs and data... but, it's rather quite interesting.

I didn't seek out this video, this video came to me. I wasn't looking for answers, or confirmation of anything, but this video showed up. So I watched it. And I couldn't help but think about all the connections and correlations I made in the previous thread about the affects of Vitamin D within this whole pandemic.

The more I watched, the more everything fit into place. So many things just all fall back to vitamin D.

The virus affects people of color disproportionately? So do vitamin D deficiencies, based on the amount of melanin in the skin.

The virus affects older people disproportionately? The older you get, the less vitamin D your skin produces.

The virus affects obese people disproportionately? Vitamin D deficiencies can cause obesity, and vitamin D is fat soluable, thus, the more fat you have, the more vitamin D is absorbed by the fat, leaving less for use by your body.

The correlation between viral infections and the amount of sunlight over the course of the seasons... the correlations between vitamin D and your immune system... everything just seems to fall into place.

I also learned that this isn't a respiratory disease, it's a cardio-vascular disease.

Another interesting things I learned was that current smokers are less likely to be hospitalized, due to nicotine being an anti-inflammatory.

I'm not saying that Vitamin D is the end-all solution, but if you want to help your body protect itself, make sure you're getting enough vitamin D.
I'm better than you, but that doesn't mean you're not great! :)

I've been taking daily Vit D for a long time now anyway - it's good for bones as it assists with the uptake of calcium. Being old, I need to be aware of bones.

The UK Govt have been supplying free Vit D to some categories of individuals for about 6 months (?) now.

I think I'll pass on getting back into smoking though as it's very bad for the cardiovascular system and the lungs.

Of course. No one in their right mind would suggest smoking as a medical course of action. They are however using nicotine patches on nurses for a certain study to see if that decreases the chance of getting infected. It's a year long study that started in October, so the results won't be in for quite a while though.

Is this being sponsored by the tobacco industry, perchance :P

Just been browsing some of the wonderful 'cures and preventatives' for Covid.
Eating lots of garlic, drinking water every 15 minutes, very hot baths ... and so on.
