So we're clear right, there's no imminent danger of being forced to get your bum checked for Covid, whether it be once or regularly? So need for it to be discussed or be alarmed by it? lol

Depends how you roll Joel. Not for us to judge. Whatever gets you through the night!

So there's confirmed pockets of the South African variant in various places in the UK.

105 people so far identified, 11 with no known links to overseas travel.

Advice is everyone in certain Postcodes to stay at home and await testing. Presumably, meanwhile, one runs the risk of starving to death or dying of an existing illness since going to a Pharmacy for one's meds is discouraged.

In fairness, I suppose there's not much else they can tell people to do.

This thing just keeps on giving and giving.

Absolutely! haha.

A friend of mine actually had one of his employees test positive last week so as a precaution he had the rest of his company tested (not large, I think 25 people). Thankfully it was only the 1 positive case and he's doing OK but one of the other guys actually started looking up the anal swab tests and asked if they could do that instead of the nasal swab since he hadn't had one before and was terrified lol.

Since the testing centre wasn't setup for that form of testing, he had to suck it up lol. So, whatever your preference is I guess lol.

Hopefully it's a gift that will soon sit in the back of the cupboard, still present but not ruling your life daily :D

Is there any Community outreach programs that will pick up medication for vulnerable people in the same way for food etc? Or have the medication delivered?

There are, but they are delivered by volunteers on a local basis so not necessarily guaranteed to be available in your area and when you need them. They're also not terribly easy to find contact details for especially for the elderly or others with limited knowledge or access to computers.

A lot of pharmacies offer home delivery but, again, it's if you are capable of arranging it. Not everyone has helpful family/friends :(

Help is there but it's half-assed and one has to dig around to find it, especially at short notice.

The help for this is not great in our area, and as you say it is difficult to know where to find it.

There were many volunteers doing deliveries of food, and pharmacy products in the very first lock down but that does seem to have tailed off somewhat in these last ones.

Getting a booked delivery from the large retail outfits is also quite difficult to obtain, they are often totally booked.

As I'm on the "highly clinically vulnerable" Govt/NHS list I was advised to register on a website of supermarkets which would be offering 'priority' service for home deliveries to people such as myself. These were the usual suspects; Tesco, Asda, Morrisons etc.

I did register (well, you never know, eh) but didn't use the service as such because the Ole Man does the shopping and I didn't want to take up a slot from someone who actually needs it.

I did experiment, however, to see how two of these outlets performed. Quoting my 'priority' identification code I was simply then directed to book my required slot - which was two weeks away or more in both cases so I'm not seeing any type of priority there. I was stood in line with everyone else apparently.

So I think perhaps a lot of the PR is just so much hot air and companies paying lip service to 'helping the most vulnerable groups'.

Or maybe I'm just a cynical old cow.

No I agree with you.

We used to advertise the fact that we have special times for vulnerable people etc, however all the other customers were still coming in at that time, and as the allotted time for this was first thing in the morning our deliveries had not arrived so there was often not the stock there for those coming in at those special hours to buy.
