Is this being sponsored by the tobacco industry, perchance

It was, actually, a semi-joke question. Nonetheless, it's rather interesting that they've identified active smokers/vapers as being less likely to be hospitalised due to Covid.
Time to buy shares in patch manufacturing companies?

I know. I chuckled when I read it.
And then I went to go and double check that it wasn't actually sponsored by some tobacco company.... just to be sure.
I'm better than you, but that doesn't mean you're not great!

Wow. 100%, eh? The vaccine manufacturer is claiming the vaccine is 100% effective?
I call BS. Anyone claiming 100% efficacy is lying to you. It's statistically impossible.
EDIT: BTW, this news from the vaccine manufacturer confirms that the general public are the test subjects.

I haven't read that press release but this is what I read about the astrazeneca vaccine preventing transmission and effectiveness. This report said 82% effective after 2nd jab. I trust them to have read the press release and extracted the relevant information.
I'm seeing a claim of 100% efficacy in the headline but the body of the article says something else, which is a trifle weird. And the people in those trials are described as being 'enrolled' or 'volunteers' - not unwitting guinea pigs.
Or am I reading it wrong?
