• Is there an adequate representation of LGBT in the media (including gaming industries)?

That depends on the media being published, and the gaming industries in question. Jagex have done a fantastic job with Armadyl; not only did they confirm him to be gay, but the way he puts it across casually is a very positive thing indeed. It sends the message that we shouldn't let stigma terrorise us, which I like. But media such as newspapers and the like, I just think is a little bit off somehow. Might be influence from rich folk with media on their sides having their humour with the rest of the world, but then again I might be imagining things.

• What're your views on gender-neutral bathrooms?

I'm honestly not too sure about this. We are trying, but I think reception on gender-neutral bathrooms will be very mixed indeed over here. Whether it succeeds or not depends on the peoples' attitude.

From my overall observations in life, I came up with a conclusion that it's due to humans diving into the world of chemicals and making use of them while being ignorant of the consequences in the very past. E.g. nuclear wars and chemcials in our food. It's probably caused gene mutations to many living creatures (not just humans) which could also explain our many weird diseases espcially immunodeficiency ones.
Flagrantly stupid.

-there has never been a nuclear war
-food is chemicals
-gays existed before nuclear power or GMOs were even conceived

I've made myself a fool there xD overlooked the word 'homosexuality'. I've edited my post :D sorry about that :)
Life has no meaning itself - it is you who make the meaning out of it.

no need to apologize, the correction is sufficient

Given how sensitive some people are on this topic, nuclear war may as well be occurring :P

Thank you for your responses, everyone!

I will gradually respond to everyone's posts, but not all at once :P . I'm slightly caught up with real-life and won't be completely free until after mid-June.

To quote P!nk, "I don't want gay marriage or hetero marriage, I just want a happy marriage."

In fact, I think you may find that many people care about the issue, especially minority groups that have faced persecutions and continual human rights violations in history. When we start to have more conversations, we helped to increase awareness of the issue and defeat the stigmas.

Your first comment intrigued me. You said that your versions of discrimination may not necessarily conform to what others would identify as discrimination. I wonder, what is discrimination to you and what are some examples?

My view on it is simple: I feel like contemporary advocacy fucks up majorly. How? Well, I feel like they focus way, WAY too much on the "They're LGBT+!" part, rather than the person's merits.

Take for example....George Takei. When people hear that name, what are they more familiar with: His decorated acting career like his role on Star Trek, or the fact that he's gay?

How about Ellen Degeneres? The fact that she's one of the most influential TV personalities this world has ever seen, or the fact that she just happens to be a lesbian?

Or Caitlyn Jenner? The fact they're a medal winning Olympic athlete who then went on to have a decorated acting career, or the fact that she was once known as Bruce?

People in general focus way, WAY too much on the label than the merits of that person, which ultimately defeats the point of advocacy, if you were to ask me.

Quite simply: I place a higher burden of proof on claims of -isms and -phobias than most people (Read: Beyond just generalized apathy).

There's also Martina Navratilova who is a married lesbian, and just happens to be the greatest women's tennis player in history. She was recognised for her pure talent, and this was in the 70s at a time when homosexuality was considered a disease and women were less thought of.

Another sportsperson who came out as gay was Justin Fashanu, who played for Norwich and came out in 1990. Shortly before this was yet another time where gays were nye on ostracised and attacks were common. Another thing going against him was being black; racism was rife in football especially, and still is in some places. He took his life back in 1998, and there have been no gay players to come out in the Premier League since.

It saddens me that even in this day and age we still have so much progress to make. In fact some are actually going backwards. Though thankfully there are some of us who look to and follow the right path. :)
