Sadly we have taken many steps backwards as a community. A lot of us, infact have become the very thing we where fighting aginst. How can we as the LGBT community sit back silently, when members of our own community scream bloody murder and lawsuits, when they openly seek out places, such as targeting religious bakers, and scream homophobe and bigot if they will not make them a cake for their wedding?

We used to preach about acceptence and tolerance. What has happened? Why are so many of us becoming the very things we have fought so hard aginst? if some one says something we do not like, we are quick to mob and scream injustice, bigot, homophobe. That is not LGBT Pride.

We will not be accepted by all. But that is all right. We cannot as a community, preach for acceptence and tolerance when we will not do the same thing.

The hardest part for me, was having to play the role of a straight man in the Military during Vietnam. Yes there was a few others who where playing straight in my platoon. And yes I was accosted a few times after I came out of the closet.

Also Chief, you forgot one major moment in the LGBT history, that hit our community hard. The HIV/Aids epidemic. I lost many friends, and one ex lover from it. Thank the Lord that I was spared from it.

On a parting note, I will say this. To all the young men and women in the LGBT community. Stand up and be proud. But do not become what we have fought aginst. Do not become a hetrophobe and bigot yourself.

Several good points in there. Curious though, how much of an impact did you notice after it came out, and was it generally good, bad, or neutral in your opinion?

The HIV/Aids epidemic? It brought out a lot of hatred towards the LGBT community. It was part of the three h's, or Hatians, Homosexuals, and Hemophiliacs. One good thing that did come out of it though, was the quilt Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I do not know how to be violent.

Sorry for miscommunicating, I was asking about the playing a straight man in the military part. What was the impact of others knowing then? Were others in your group affected and such?

I'm sure the epidemic brought out some issues of its own.

Oh I came out after I was out of the USMC. There was a few that was shocked, that said they would have never dreamed I was gay. There was two that flat out refused to speak to me to this day. But they where jackasses any way. Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I do not know how to be violent.

I'm asexual myself, and a quiet one at that. I have told exactly one person IRL that I'm asexual, and that's fine with me. I guess one reason why I personally do not see myself as a member of the LGBT group is that I don't feel the need to speak up about my sexuality (or lack thereof). My sexuality is my business, and mine alone. If you want to share it with others, you have that right, but you might not always like the consequences.

It absolutely boggles my mind that people still get up in arms about gay marriage, why it's good, why it's bad. Like... who the hell cares what other consenting adults are doing behind closed doors? If they're not hurting anyone, let them do their thing... just don't do it in front of me, I really don't wanna see.

Postal vote on marriage equality might be going ahead in Australia soon, if it isn't struck down by our high court.

It's gonna cost hundreds of millions of dollars for a non-mandatory paper vote, which is why some groups want it struck down and just want parliamentarians to vote 'yes' in a parliamentary vote. It'll be much quicker and cheaper and just generally a less offensive process to vote this way.

No. Sorry, I have nothing against gender identities, but having relationships with two different people is a no-no. Some would call it cheating.

It's only cheating if the other person doesn't know of it, otherwise it's called an open relationship.
