With how much Jagex milks this game it's surprising they haven't tapped into releasing the tokens for profit. Just look at all other games with loot boxes, people will spend thousands trying to get rare drops.
Jagex should do the same with tokens imo, it introduces a steady but low supply of tokens and whales have something to spend cash on other than 200m all with keys.

Jagex has been hesitant in releasing walks even after being asked so many times on streams, makes me think they are limited if not discontinued.
I think demand for assassin walks is greater than phats. Because you can always resell a phat. Unlocked tokens are forever.

If supply runs lower, we could see some enormous prices if there's no return. It's like telling an addict he can't have his fix. People need assassin walk unlocked. They can do without other things, but not their fix.

I sold mine, because I believe they'll return, this year and soon.
I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity. :(

I sold my 3 assassins for 4, 4, and 5b. Weakpig sold 2 pf them for me, but I mean he gave me the proceeds.

That is a lot for something that will most likely return this year. Overwhelming demand. The ultimate fix.

I remember once seeing someone say "Every player deserves to be able to Naruto run", referring to their wish to see the Assassin walk available for all players. I agree with this sentiment purely since it would be cool for everyone to mass Naruto run everywhere.

Yea everyone has different goals. Some want all rares/ newer rarers some want all dyed armour some want all token unlocks. There's really nothing to play for anymore.

I honestly dont care about tokens and i think very few long time players do. I dont even bother to unlock all the cheap ones while it would cost virtually nothing.
Dyes i dont care for either but i can see them beeing kinda cool and in demand.
But all the beach tokens who cares for them. Assasin and the like are in demand but only because its rare in circulation and because the merchants managed to convince some people that they are cool. Personally i find the titles still more cool then those silly walks.

The new players they care somewhat for some of the tokens i guess,if only because hats have become so expensive. I dunno,i kinda see tokens as a silly gimmick but thats just me.

Hats have made runescape, trip is right about that. Well, hats and the old pvp which unfortunatly did die with the combat update.
The time when maxing would take years and there was 3 people maxed,it was something special that most players didnt even dream of.
The time where people would try lure you to the wild only because you held a whip. The time where you got scammed with buying unids and had to follow a special procedure to not get scammed.
The time where there was 200k players online and you had to try 10 times just to get into w1 or w2 which was completely packed at the hot spots for trading and skilling.
The golden age of runescape which sort of ended with the balanced trade update. I miss those times.

Not much of that is left unfortunatly, besides for the hats. That makes them even more special,a dear memmory of a good time. Now we have those silly tokens and empty worlds.

But ya,this is just ramblings of an old man so dont take serious lol.

jagex maniped rarity of things, tokens started costing more keys to win one
then on top of that players hoard and manip tokens so if you wanted to buy them you couldnt afford them
plus my accs ten years old, and this game doesnt pay out to players, you might get 1 decent drop a year and thats all ingame unless you buy bonds or keys for exp to halve cost of a skill

mtx has not been done right, its applicated too much negativity, and if a player reads this thread theyll know whos pro topic by their posts on the sof.th items so know theyre maniping to make an investment from their token stacks if they retire them

its all psychological negatives

the legit way of discontinuing an item thats not a rare is to make them untradable, or remove from game. that i would be up for.

or maybe jagex could do it so tokens are all untradable and in th when you buy keys you can choose a item promo to unlock what you need

or retired them from th and put them all as drops of diff rarity in giant mimic boss drops

That all sounds similar how partyhats worked. :) I don't own any walk tokens right now but there is clear bias between hoarding a rare and a token. If a partyhat was a token there would be several manip callouts. This is not the same thing as someone hoarding essential items like toilet paper hand sanitizer/food irl. :)
I need my blue charms back.

I would like them to be rereleased in a contained manner like through raffles, community event rewards, seasonal highscore rewards or through rng items similar to how the holly wreath was released( but in much smaller quantities since it should be reoccurring) that way the market wouldn't get flooded with the valuable ones and their prices wouldn't take much of a dent from a handful being rereleased every now and then and they remain somewhat a special item

If they were something like 100k oddments each that would be reasonable.

it would if oddments had some sort of a limit in the manner you obtain them I don't know the actual rate of oddments gained from keys especially during the whacky promotions but the problem with adding the tokens to the oddment shop and even giving them an absurd oddment price tag is that their value can be translated to cash lets say it takes 2k keys to get the 100k oddments that'll make the minimum price of the token of your choice tied to the value of the 2k keys or whatever 2k keys is worth in bonds this will make the value of the tokens pretty volatile and unwarranted since they can be pumped in game without a limit
