You have to remember that when most of the (now) discontinued items were originally released the goal was for the items to be an accessible fun item available to most every player. These items now require 1000s of hours of money making to obtain (assuming you start from nothing) which is not realistic for many players, especially newcomers. Rares these days are also used to store wealth for the massive number of RWTs (which is also bad for the game).
So, you want rares to return also? Perhaps in oddment store?

I think rares have improved the game. You're wearing a phat in your photo, pretty sure I've seen you flip them... You enjoy merching.
I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity. :(

I was a staker. I hate the rares market. It's objectively bad for the game too.

Also, probably unpopular opinion, but yes rares should be reintroduced (at least as cosmetics). I understand the impact it would have on the economy for the items to be reintroduced so I don't think that'll happen.

Oh. Staking is bad for the game.

Stakers always seem to dislike merching. So, that explains things. If it weren't for staking, there'd be no profit in merching outside of the ge.

Good that you're consistent.

I don't care too much. I seem to just like debating in the forums for the sake of debating.

Staking is bad for the game also, I agree.

I don't dislike merching in general. I have no problem with it when it can be done threw the GE. When it's not done threw the GE it leaves both buyers and sellers more susceptible to scams and neither can be sure they are getting the best deal.

There used to be more honesty in merching. Everyone's angry now, different environment.

I loved flipping phats in the ge. You would usually get only a few mil margin, but during a panic margins got big. There was more up and down then, more fun to trade it. Now, things just go up.

It used to be great fun if you had info. You could sell as they went down. Buy a few months later before they went up. All you'd go by is whether the market looked up or down, which was easy bc people were honest then and shared info better.

Like, you might start with a red. You'd sell. Phats would crash. And you'd buy a white. Then, it'd go up again. It worked over and over, almost impossible to lose doing it. No manipulation involved.

Many players back then dreamed of owning a phat, because they wanted to own something rare in a game, when they were older.

I don't know if those players even log in now, or even still live, but that was the sentiment. That was runescape in the past: Pursuit of rares. So, I think bringing them back would be unfair.

I'd probably like them returning, since I own none currently. But I can't say it's fair, or necessarily good for the game.

If they're a problem, maybe make them untradeable.

I think jagex wont ever discontinue tokens because they can just rerelease a promotion for expensive tokens for free money (people would be incentivised to buy keys for that 8b token purple, but less incentivised to buy bonds for gp)

Honestly I hope they rerelease the old untradeable discontinued items (like scythe etc) so everyone can enjoy them. Perhaps that could be another expensive thing on their loyalty store.
Mass contributor to deaths coffers.

I never had the chance to obtain the olympic games outfits, i would really love to have those get a rewind too.
trusting certain pc lists or prices of items or websites that dont belong to jagex will get you into trouble notice: external websites and trades are your responsibility, dont get fooled!.

I don't see the fun in rereleased items. Beach tokens were rereleased helped me unlock them all and I don't see whats fun about them. I would like partyhats to be reintroduced though so everyone can enjoy them.
I need my blue charms back.
