It's only fun if you're there for a limited-time thing, then that's it.

This is fine if the item's aren't tradeable but when an item is tradeable and is never reintroduced then over time it becomes essentially unobtainable for newer/average players (like partyhats today).

Runescape is still around because of rares.

Hard disagree, less than .1% of the playerbase owns a rare.

You have to know the reason behind that before claiming such a thing.
The action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.

They were far cheaper in the past. People pursued not just a phat but sets of phats, full rare sets. Many, many players pursued them. There are many in game. Play the Gower quest again. That's runescape.

Whatever percentage have rares, you can't count alts and players who just log in a few times. The people who stuck around, paid membership regularly, got rares. They bought a stake in the future, watched as it went up.

Currently, runescape is different. I'm talking about the first 10 years or so. There's still an entire section of the forums dedicated to trading rares. Few trade now, but that used to be a hot market. This game succeeded because of rares. It's hard hardness and truth.

And if y'all didn't play back then, then y'all can't have an opinion. Because you weren't there. But it's also just a game.

Let’s be real here… The token market is now purely a gamble, gambling can bring profit yes, but you can and I’m sure we ALL have lost the recent bet when we heard about the oddment store token re-releases… So.. The token market will always be profitable depending on how long you wish to hang onto your token stack, but beware of the inevitable re-release via the oddment store on tokens relevant to the event you in which it was originally obtained.. Eg… I’d be sweating if I had a bunch of Zombie walk tokens coming up to H’ween, or my Christmas jumper stacks coming up to XMAS… You have been warned.
Smarter ideas would be dropping bank into cheaper discontinued items which I will not name as I don’t want this to come across as a manipulative post..
Happy Gambling :)

I would like them to be rereleased in a contained manner like through raffles, community event rewards, seasonal highscore rewards or through rng items similar to how the holly wreath was released( but in much smaller quantities since it should be reoccurring) that way the market wouldn't get flooded with the valuable ones and their prices wouldn't take much of a dent from a handful being rereleased every now and then and they remain somewhat a special item

With how much Jagex milks this game it's surprising they haven't tapped into releasing the tokens for profit. Just look at all other games with loot boxes, people will spend thousands trying to get rare drops.
Jagex should do the same with tokens imo, it introduces a steady but low supply of tokens and whales have something to spend cash on other than 200m all with keys.

If they were something like 100k oddments each that would be reasonable.

Jagex has been hesitant in releasing walks even after being asked so many times on streams, makes me think they are limited if not discontinued.

They posted an unequivocal reply on reddit that they would release plague/assassin/zombie. However, they would announce the return first. Most assume this would be an unlock in oddment store, not a token release.

Just prior to that, they said they'd love to release assassin, maybe "all walks." You'd have to look at the context. But what does "all walks" include? I suspect it only includes those 3. However, as with everything, we don't know.

Some speculate Jagex is too lazy or too fearful of reaction to ever bring these back.

If someone wants to find these, I recommend finding it. I'm not doing it :)
