Stop trying to stir panic lol. Jagex keeps track of number of rares, they have for a long time.
And crackers can not rise the number of rares because its zero sum. minus 1 cracker plus 1 partyhat.
And even if rares where duped (which is extremely unlikely by all accounts) then they would sit on the cheaters accounts and be destroyed. They have not entered the market, the price action of recent weeks does prove this.

Problem with what you said comes in code, you pull duped cracker with someone you end up with brand new item that entered the game 'legit'. Thats not zero sum, thats one new hat for every cracker. Prices of partyhats has been steady as ever but lower rares have shot up, thats just not how inflation works by picking and choosing.

I think he means the trigger can be just the count of phats+crackers in game as always to be the same, if the total sum of all of them increases you know a dupe is going on

Yea i understood that part but as it is 50/50 who gets the hat there is no trade involved which breaks the account to account trade tracking. or did they change it that its now 100% for the owner of cracker? Either way, they can see that there is more hats but not where they are if the trade cycle is broken in some way, which leads to issue on banning those individuals. Considering how Jagex has responded to this i have little faith on them caring to do anything especially on lockdown.

Just wish they would make an actual statement that no damages have been done instead of sitting quiet.

Owner of cracker gets phat always now, been like that for a while to avoid rwt, since the removal of free trade i think.
Anyway the trigger would be there so an alarm would sound at jagex so they could investigate a possible dupe, not to track whos doing the bad things. Thats the second part of the investigation after they patch whatever is wrong in their game.

good to hear, so its now only up to if they cared to take actions, which by the video didnt sound like the case but i give them benefit of doubt.

They can't really do anything, whoever duped those items already rwted it (check the title of the abuser's video)

These "dupe" rumor and glitches have been around for a long time. Yes, it happened once. Though with a simple search you can find "dupe" claims/videos every year and sometimes every few months. Most get no attention but every so often one gets hyped. The clear goal of this video was to manipulate prices. Economic adulteration is based off of a few factors. These factors are motivation and vulnerability. The motivation would be to make money, in this case it's clear the video maker wants to make money (it is his job after all). Views/likes and maybe even a cut of the inside manipulation would be the motivation. Next is vulnerability. It's super easy to make a short video and splice some things together. As for actual attempting to dupe in game, the motivation is there but less as it requires significant more time and resources. The vulnerability is much more difficult as there are systems in place to detect (remember the recent TH firework promo glitch). If jagex can detect a relatively small influx into the game economy and contain the issue with speed as proven with the recent TH issue, then I find this video very hard to believe. Reiterating, the goal of the video is clear that the streamer wants view/hits and wants prices to drop (likely to buy low and sell high when they go back up).
