If Jagex was able to and actually did trace every duped GP and item and banned/destroyed them all then money would be taken out of the market and lowers would dip back down. But...

They also dupped a lot of lower rares to sell. Apparently a lot of santas and yellow phats - items that are probably more affordable and desirable on the RWT market, would be my guess. I'm known as Rich King Midas, and when you look at me, you'll see a king who knows a thing about his treasury. I never cared for women. I've never cared for wine. But when I count a large amount of money - ha ha - it's divine!

just sold a green phat for 11500m (see v60 for details) If you are willing to chuck your most precious possessions like phats because someone said words like crashing/dying/quitting and then find yourself unable to rebuy for what you sold for, then you don't deserve to own a phat.

I agree with everything but the yellow phat part. Anything on street is hard to sell quickly and any huge stock will attract too much attention. If you are willing to chuck your most precious possessions like phats because someone said words like crashing/dying/quitting and then find yourself unable to rebuy for what you sold for, then you don't deserve to own a phat.

Well I hope you're right Sea King. I don't understand how this wasn't patched on RS3 when it was demonstrated on 07 months prior.

Wouldn't they be able to rwt hats pretty easily though? Idk maybe they're just too high value to draw in buyers.

We already have 3 weeks to see the impact. Clearly, it's GP-dupe driven inflation and NOT an explosion in the supply of rares. And yes, you said already, hats are too hard to draw in buyers if you want to cash out on trillions. This is just what I have heard from a fairly reputable source. Mostly what was duped was GP in the forum of shards and dumped into rares to sell/store on black market. Some rares were also duped, but mostly it was large amounts of shards by the sounds of it.

Explains the rise. It made no sense to me, from my understanding of the rares market. Like why, I thought, are these items doubling in two months and rising 15 % or more per day? It makes sense now.

I guess we can expect these items to continue to explode in price as GP has been massively devalued now, on an unprecedented scale. I thought there was some fishy going on, while the servers "were under atttack" and made the game unplayable some weeks ago. I thought it was some kind of ddos attack (well its some kind of server attack anyway). For what I could remember it was for about a weekend, and then was followed up with 1 or 2 more waves after that. Probably most of the duping happend then.

This incident may also have some to say why we havent had too much updates of late. Need resources to clean up the mess...a mess that will keep on going and have probably long term influence on the economy...

Considering the massive event, there are probably someone on the inside also in it. Probably some mods(playermods) providing intel, thus making the operation wastly more successful.
