If you take a look at the GE most valuable trades list, you can see that no partyhats have been sold in the GE within the past month or else it would be on that list.

Again, this is just my guess. You’re free to believe that all these rares were reintroduced.

Yeah you need to keep in mind that 2012-2016 phats where still traded in ge, when last partyhat rose above max cash the bank bidders was coined due to the fact that Jagex could no longer return banned partyhats to ge. So banned partyhats havent been returned in 4years, which is not the case on lower rares one would assume. Think i made a mistake on bank bidder accounts tho, they could have all been bans from 2016.

2016 there was still cases where someones offer went through getting phat for max cash and at the time one of the theories in price check fc's was that it was hat from banned account dumped to ge.

I mostly assumed partyhats traded through the GE (ever since they went above max cash), were either return players who were ignorant of their actual value or inactive sell offers which became active (i.e. they were not cancelled quick enough before someone else instant bought it).

Players would know if Jagex were to have recently changed their stance on not re-introducing the rares from banned accounts via the GE, since we have the 100 most valuable GE trade list on the RS website. However, Jagex can actually freely re-introduce lower rares into the GE from banned accounts if they wanted to, as they are actually traded in the GE normally, and therefore already appear on the 100 most valuable GE trade list on the RS website. So, unless we get a recent Jmod confirmation that they still have the same stance back when Bank Bidders was introduced, who knows what they have done or will do in relation to this latest dupe?

This is the other possibility, they never made statement after 2012 incidence how they handle banned rares so most just assumed they are returned if their price is still within ge reach and for the timing of bank bidders introduction when hats rose above ge prices.

I think they use the rare market to launder the coins beeing made by the dupe into legit merchant profits.

Using the rares market to launder the coins made by the dupe into legit merchant profits is actually clever and highly plausible.

Should this be the case, this is going to be one of the largest market manipulations in Runescape history.

This is just a possibility:

Step 1) Dupe GP and Rares
Step 2) Use your main legit accounts to stock up on the same rares that the RWT/bug abuse accounts consistently buy rares through the GE with duped shard stacks.
Step 3) On bug abusing/RWT accounts, offload some of those rares through RWT but mostly the GP as most RWTers probably prefer cold hard GP.
Step 4) Start selling off a percentage of those rares on your main legit accounts at heavily inflated prices.
Step 5) Ensure that your RWT/Bug abusing accounts have sold off less rares than the amount of rares bought through the GE.
Step 6) Get those RWT/Bug abusing accounts banned with a nice stack of authentic rares.
Step 7) Create video of duplicating said rares.
Step 8) Share clips with one of the most subscribed Youtubers and cause hype throughout the community to sell off rares.
Step 9) Buy back even more of these rares to hoard at extremely low price with the full knowledge that your fake accounts being banned caused the volume of rares to drop drastically.
Step 10) Enjoy your profits in the long-term through legit means on main account with a nice stack of these much lower volume rares.

Thanks all for the feedback on this here and through PM. Yes, definitely interesting points to consider that Jagex’s stances can change, especially under these unique circumstances. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how the lower rare market reacts or if Jagex provides any more confirmation. Lower rares seem to be rebounding already, though.

One point that needs to be highlighted and seriously considered, that some others have already brought up, is that these hackers fully intended this video to be disseminated to the community. They sent it one of the biggest RS YouTube names to get it out to the largest audience. They have a motive in this. Why? Why do they want us to watch and believe this video? Is there some motive there besides just bragging rights?

What could that motive be? Crashing rares, causing hype?

And then, is the video and story even real?

It is possible this was done on a RS mirror server (where some people, I suspect, get their screenshots for rares trades for the disc chat).

10/10 on them having sold their rares on at peaks, made that video and got in contact with a known youtuber to made the video publicly shown to the community to make everyone panic sell.
Don't trust any pc's listed, any advice or talks between posts on ID forums anymore , the Manips are let loose, especially the main one with 15+ accounts posting acting as different people.. do your own research

I don't understand if you say that with irony.

I read the comments of the video you just mentioned, to conclude, it's a disappointment. Very low people, not aware that they are low. It's an extent of real life thugs to the digital world.

And I still leave open if something happened at all, other than pure "psychological" manipulation.
My trust on merchers starts on 25% tops on 50% and it's often 0%
