Lol some people are proud of being ignorant but that is ok. Every rare (as stated multiple times) with a few exceptions (BSH, Holy W... you know, limited ones) were once TOO COMMON! lol

And you and Mr Deadtree totally missed the point. I am making fun of people with main accounts using alts to farm these hats as there are multiple methods that are proven to be better gp per hour than spending 20+ hours. And don't come now and tell me these people don't have the ability to do these methods because that would be a lie. I see some here with phats saying "I have obtained multiple already... and I am not even trying" give me a break LOL they have spent over 20+ hours doing this LMAO.

It is so funny to read them say "I hAvE oNly sPeNt 80 hOuRs iN frOnT of a CoMputeR faRmiNg theSe haTs, It iS sO eAsY aNyBodY wItH nO lifE caN dO iT" roflmao!

Go on, keep farming them. It won't make people who want to keep them sell, nor will it make "OG" phats any more valuable. If anything, it just devalues the existent stock. Don't see that many trades for "superior" hats anymore. Many actually selling them lol.

Edit: I mean... I don't blame people for downgrading... why would you want to have a overvalued-zero stats phat on top of your head when you can buy a beautiful golden phat for a fraction of the money, and use the rest of the money to buy BIS gear to actually play the game? Nonbrainer!

I'll give some information and my time it took for anyone who is wondering. Main account took me around 12 hours to obtain Gold Party hat and had it two days into the event. I sold the phat (regretted it), felt like I made a bad decision, so I booted up my alt account. I played the atl account while I skilled on my main (arch). Well a very low level account got the gold phat in about 18 hours of work (yak track was last shard). Remember this is tick base not xp so I found ways to get many ticks per hour for the shards (barb fishing trains three skills at once). I will now keep the second gold phat for life because I made it and already felt bad selling my first one for 600m. Honestly if I didn't sell it, I wouldn't have went through the trouble for the second one. I should of told myself 600m isn't going to be life changing so why did I sell a historical item that I made myself. Cheers! ^_^

I;m farming multiple partyhats on alts < example on side. A few clarifications. I get my hats in 10-13 hours each now with Yak Track. I also do 3-4 accounts at a single time. So lets say hats are 450m and takes me 12 hours to get its 37.5m hour gross (not accounting for Bond/30M Shard). I do on say 3.5 accounts its 131m an hour. Thats 131m on new level 3's not a maxed main with billions in gear to make that. You're also not making that at on high level PVM unless you're using an easy 10B+ gear setup and are even more diligent on yours revs. I'm AFK except for the quest & support shard. Do I need the GP? no, but I work remotely so can almost get a set a day and I have a name for being a top screw when it comes to merching rares. I also like to collect rares and since its Christmas I'd be nice and collect my own than taking everyone elses (for now).

As for price/quantity in game. I highly doubt there will be 250k. Id say30-70k max by the end of the event. Even I don't know how many hats I'm going to farm before I stop. Price bottom if it even gets to it 180m is my bottom price I'd expect to see it. I do feel like now that Yak is out it will hover around 350m-500m. Its very easy to have 10-20b saved and buy up dozens if not hundreds of these hats. Also say about 60% will never be traded, as in they are keepsaked on mains, OSRS players who came to get a phat, only came for event and quit etc. While the 'supply' may be high at 70K hats in game the actual traded quantity may only be 5K or lower once merchers buy up bulk quantities, farmers get tired etc. Remember if you're never selling your hat and only keepsaking it and would only sell for 50B+ then you're not really a part of the supply (at least not until that price or near).

Then why do people think Gphats are good investment? If noone cares already, they certainly won't go up later so something here doesn't add up.
You are either heavily invested in Gphats and want us to stop farming or just really care about what happens to this new discontinued rare.
For now, it certainly is the flavour of the month and should be farmed to death for easy $ now or to hold for easy $ in the future. Either way, Farm Farm Farm!!

It's a good investment... If you care enough to invest in RS currency. Most players aren't merchers and aren't looking to stack billions of GP by hoarding Gold Phats. Most will be happy with just the 1 they earn on their main.

As I've stated in an earlier post, there are those who will take this to the extreme and buy hundreds of dollars worth of bonds to create multiple alts for the sole purpose of getting these hats, we know the type already.

For those 250K+ numbers to be correct, people creating multiple alts and buying thousands of dollars worth of bonds would have to be the rule and not the exception. There is NO EVIDENCE of that. All I see are people quoting anecdotal evidence of how easy it is for THEM to hoard. More power to them. Hopefully Jagex sends them some Christmas cards.

If they are using in-game money to buy bonds to farm phats, we should be seeing bonds rising at a fast pace.

if 1 bond/alt = 1 phat 400m

Bonds should be way higher than the current price.

If there is farming going on it seems to be a small percentage, willing to put in the effort.

Also wanted to comment on some posts I've read on comparing the golden partyhat vs other rares (X-mas Scythes, BSH et) I will say (IMO) the GldPhat is in a different league vs the Scythe, tree hat, bsh etc. For one items like the Xmas scythe and tree hat are ugly as hell. The BSH is a nice looking item but is still 'christmas in nature' and santas were always lower tier rares vs partyhats. Partyhats are iconic as some of the most expensive and lucrative items to have in game and the golden partyhat compliments them well. I personally like the GldPhat the most and this is coming from someone with every hat. Admittedly I also have a different sense of style than T-92 dyed to match my hat so take that into account. I guess my point is I highly doubt these hats will be 1B+ after the event but I don't think they will be 300M for years either. The biggest factor is partyhats are probably the most iconic rare item and anyone who doesn't have one will want the 'affordable' partyhat which will just increase the price. Remember not everyone plays 3 days a week 52 weeks a year a lot play for a month quit come back a few months later. To add in my prior comment it doesnt matter if theres a million hats in game if only 5k are being actively sold and ever other is held on mains or merchers then 5k is the market.
