Setup time: ~15 mins
Host (Wise Old Man): instant
Quest: ~45 mins
Combat (corpse spiders): 3-4 hours
Gathering (divination): 3-4 hours
Artisan (headless arrows): 3-4 hours
Boss (arch glacor): ~4 hours
Gold: instant
Yak track: you get to level 12 while collecting other shards, skip level 12 and 13 with free skips and complete A of level 14 and 15 (which is <3 hours).
Total time: around 17-20 hours to make a hat from scratch
Cost: Bond (45m) + Gold task (30m) + other expenses (~5m)
Profit: Gphat (425m) - Costs (80m) = 345m
Gp/hr: 17-20m (rounded)

Plus you can save 30m by doing Agility but it would add another 3 hrs if unlucky.

Most players in RS3 aren't creating alts for the sole purpose of obtaining Phats. Most will get 1 on their main account and be done with it, and that's if they even care enough to go through the process of obtaining shards
Then why do people think Gphats are good investment? If noone cares already, they certainly won't go up later so something here doesn't add up.
You are either heavily invested in Gphats and want us to stop farming or just really care about what happens to this new discontinued rare.
For now, it certainly is the flavour of the month and should be farmed to death for easy $ now or to hold for easy $ in the future. Either way, Farm Farm Farm!!

I wouldn't bother with support unless you have 65 agility for afk bikes in throne room. Takes too much effort doing stalls on fresh alt or any other support skill. Buying a shard is absolutely worth it to save time and prevent yourself from burning out. Just my take on things.

Golden partyhats are quite unique. It's the closest thing to a OG partyhat a normal player can achieve these days given the current price of OG hats. Sure they can be alted, sure the event last more than a month, sure majority of playerbase will get atleast one by the end of the event even with passive play. But I think their uniqueness in terms of other rares speaks in favor of them.
Also I believe Jagex on one of recent streams said that many players returned simply to get one of these phats. There also will be an influx of players during winter break. But what happens when after that these players ''leave'' the game once again. Think majority of them will decide that golden partyhats might be a safe long term investment for them if they ever return.

Yup, very true. I am keeping several as a long-term investment but selling several aswell to invest in other long-term investments.
I have recently returned after a 15 year hiatus, and will prob leave after Event is over. I can't see much reason to play, besides Event but that may change in a month, I'm hoping.
I always set lofty goals for myself and with the free time I've had lately, it's 100 Gold Phats!
