yeah that could probably work, separate the areas far away from each other and fill the gaps with forests or plains or whatever, gives the cities enough space to slowly expand naturally with updates rather than having to rework everything

we could use more seemingly desserted travel areas to give runescape that feeling of irl land regardless, cities are too close to each other

As previously mentioned, nearly 3 years ago, this is not something we are planning to do. It is something we raise in our "wish list" discussions and look at for feasibility quite often but is significantly more difficult to achieve than some players seem to feel it should be. It is certainly not just a case of mapping down some extra forest between locations to make it bigger :) Mod MattHe | Former Community Manager, now in Events & occasional Lore Monkey

As a beginner LUA programmer MattHe's words are very accurate. Even in GTA San Andreas, it is hard to write a new script for example the opening of a modelled car's door.
But (only if there are a few) there are hopes that we may see it in our life. Thanks!

This is very much true. Take for example the co-ordinate system for treasure trails. Each point is individually mapped. Thee are countless lines of code for each single point. If we were to say grab the confines of Varrock. To move it, you would have to rework the entire code of the map to accommodate for that movement, as each line has it's own relation to each point. I would love to see it happen, and will agree it is sorely needed, but the scale of work is much more immense that it first seems to be.

Do you guys not like being games developers or something?
Isn't half the reason you do your job because it's challenging?

It depends what you mean possible - almost anything is possible in the development of a game but it has implications in the decisions you make. Such a project would be beyond huge - several times bigger than Elf City and NXT combined. That is just not a feasible project, in time, the number of devs that would ahve to be involved, or the impact it would make to current game content/development.
