hands down the best update in years, if they actually do it.

The new content they release.... is just boring for me. I don't like questing, i don't like bossing in big groups, i don't like attending events that give cosmetics again. Elf city update was cool, and so were some of the new slayer monsters, apart from that there haven't been any good big updates in the last couple of years (at least for me). So they might as well make runescape look better.

The way RS was designed it doesn’t leave much room for large scale realistic maps with distances covering each city.

To implement this update the whole game will need to be scrapped and worked on from the ground up which would ultimately alter the games mechanics, and would completely change everything we know about RS to the point it’ll be almost unrecognizable.

Most of us have gotten used to the idea of playing in a small Lego world that we don’t even think about it.

I think that rebuilding the world would also be the perfect time to perhaps get rid of the grid system. I wonder if they'd reconsider AWSD movement again while there are so many key-binds for various quick functions.

I recall they did consider WAS* a long time ago, but as far as I can tell, it's not possible in the game right now without rewriting huge chunks of the engine. It would require a rework of the entire mob navigation system as well as the shortening of the game tick to virtually nil to make sure the movements are fluid. However, given enough time investment and player support, I can see it being implemented sometime in the long-term future.

We'd be sacrificing update frequency AND quality.. A LOT of it.. unless you let them slowly work on it over the course of like 3 years.. even then, the content will be different because they wouldn't want to add anything new to existing areas... A
World Guardian
must learn to find
Balance
in themselves.
Only then can they
Control
themselves and forge their own
Fate .

The longer that an "Upscale update" takes to implement, the deeper they dig into the old map. There is already a lot of quest areas and content built up, and more will be added as runescape gets older.

So in a way, it is a little similar to the old java client vs NXT. The old areas are already saturated and you can't add much more to the surface. Of course, Jagex can always simply create new areas such as the Eastern lands and ignore the main land, which can also work.

They could try to work on the main land in sections, similar to how Prif is in an entirely separate area. You see a small area on the surface map but when you enter, you enter a separate city area which is a lot larger inside.
What's the next most absurd signature?
