Sounds interesting, but I don't have time to go through it right now, will get back you later. Just gonna say that people have been critical of the idea of dg familiars not only because its troublesome to make (which your suggestion resolves) but also because "no one" does normal dg anymore. °l||l° Modest Skillers T7 Citadel | Skilling clan recruiting players. °l||l°

I think we need more combat support familiars like the Nihil. Combat familiars that offer some direct help like the accuracy boost, as it makes Nihil actually popular unlike 90% of cb familiars.

Also looking to sink unpopular but hard to get items.

Venomous Arraxyte:

Ingredient: Spider Venom

Level 102 req, approx T90 accuracy and 500 max hit, attacks by spitting (ranged).

Passive effect: Sneaky Toxin

Allows the summoner to poison monsters that are normally poison immune by turning it into a damage over time effect called "Totally Not Poison" for 30s. This is 1/6th of poisons normally duration and behaves as a bleed so monsters like Nex in Blood Phase will heal from it.

Example: Weapon Poison++ can apply "Totally Not Poison" to Helwyr, dealing 22%-44% weapon damage 3 times over 30 seconds.

Scroll gives the Spider Cinderbane gloves effect for 1 minute.

Low damage combat familiar, but allowing the user to inflict poison makes up for it.

Barrelchest MK X (based on Barrelchest quest boss)

Ingredient: Flatpacker Depacker and an Artifical Charm, created through Invention from components.

Level 110 Req, combat familiar with T99 accuracy and damage, but 20% slower attack than average. Fires from his cannon hand ranged attack if cant reach target. Each attack applies a 0.2% damage and armor reduction debuff to enemies for 40s, stacking up to 10 times.

Beast of Burden: Holds up to 24 items (uses its barrel body as a container).

Scroll: Based on MK ll special attack. Glows blue and yells "Prepare yourself" and smashes his anchor down, dealing twice its normal damage and applying max debuff stacks.

@Delta, added your ideas to the list.

@I Ate All, I like the Araxyte idea (also, isn't Helwyr not poison immune?). As for Barrelchest MK X spec, I don't really think it needs to apply max stack since you'll reach 10 really quickly anyways, imo just needs to apply 1 stack. If you're starting the encounter, you will usually have max summoning focus so that will quickly apply 3-4 stacks, plus 1-2 from its AA already.

Hm, forgot Helwyr wasn't immune. In Barrelchests case, it has a slower attack rate so I don't think it would stack quickly outside of scroll. Its meant to be a more combat support familiar, having BoB capabilities and applying a debuff, but slow damage.

I've also been interested in having clockwork familars based on Invention like how Abyssal familiars are based on RC, also using Artificial Charms.

New passive effect exclusive to clockwork familiars: Weapon/Tool/Armor Compatibility 1-3

You can install gizmos into clockwork familiars of the compatibility type by using them on the familiar. Grants the player the perks of that gizmo as long as they're wearing an augmented items of that type. The number determines the number of gizmos you can install. You get the gizmos back when the familiar disappears.

Roboster: (Robotic Lobster)

Ingredient: Fishing Accumulator

Skilling familiar: Invisible +6 fishing bonus. Tool Compatibility 1. BoB: 40 slots, stores raw fish only. Forages Fish while fishing, up to Sailfish. Scroll: Grants a random Deep Sea fishing buff.

Spiderret: (Robot Spider with a turret body, looks like a Guardian from LoZ BoTW)

Ingredient: Equipment Dissolver

Weapon/Armor Compatibility 2. Fires web from its turret as a ranged attack. Fast and accurate but lower damage. Scroll wraps enemy in web, slowing their attacks for 8s (Zurial Staff special but much shorter).

Problem with specs is that you can just sip a summoning pot and you'll have max stack in no time even if the spec only applies 1 stack. Which is why I suggested toning it down to a single stack per spec, unless the summoning focus cost is really high.

The lobster idea sounds cool but the spec seems quite powerful, DSF buffs aren't super common so having a spec where you can use a few times each minute for a buff that lasts 3 minutes seems a little OP.

The spider spec idea sounds powerful in legacy pvp, but I don't really know balance.

Nevertheless, these are some interesting takes and I like what you are doing, you are bringing in much needed creativity to an old thread with little traffic/interest.

I was think for the gizmo familiar, the gizmo installed should have lesser effectiveness since it can be powerful if future more op perks are added to the game. But then you're sacrificing dps from titan so I guess its not that op. °l||l° Modest Skillers T7 Citadel | Skilling clan recruiting players. °l||l°

I was trying to utilize summoning again lately to see its weak points, and I think one of its biggest flaws is its competitor: Legendary Pets

They require no pouch or summoning points, can store items like a BoB, and have a range of abilities you can hand pick that are useful all around like Ring of Life effect, free high alches and banking, and can be summoned at anytime with no timers.

I think summoning would be a lot better if legendary pet abilities were given to summoning familiars, and can be used at the cost of summoning points. The only exception being the BoB ability which cant be given to familiars that are already BoB.

This would keep Legendary Pets as an option to utilize the abilities without a familiar.

In order for the legendary pet to function, they still require the pouch. And not requiring summoning points is mostly trivial since you'll be using restore pots, plus legendary pets can't use scrolls so they're pretty much never used outside of being a bob when you don't need winter storage scroll.

But I agree that it would be nice to have the legendary pet abilities as familiar abilities instead, but Jagex won't let that happen, they need to sell the pets.
