I don't think "the storyline is not fixed" and "we'll find out soon" is what OP creates this thread for. So for those who think Jagex has specifically set up a Lore Council and frequently given us lore reveals based on long term planning in the production of an epic, persistent and consistent story of Gielinor all these 21 glorious years, I want to summarize what I think Jagex has told us about Erebus based on existing lore:
While there is a Lore Council, there isn’t quite as much long term planning as you might think, and things frequently change. For example, they never intended for there to be an almost 3 year gap between Sliske’s Endgame (2016) and the next major part of the story (Desperate Times in 2019). The plot of the entire Sliske storyline also changed quite a bit throughout, as it was intended for there to be more god deaths between Missing, Presumed Death and Bird and the Beast and the culmination of Sliske’s storyline.
The corruption on Mah’s egg being caused by Xau-Tak is also a slight (and recent) retcon, since it was heavily implied for years beforehand that the corruption was “cold” and caused by Wen. With a Bik “waking up” quest announced at Runefest but eventually scrapped, it’s pretty evident they’ve changed the storyline around quite a bit and it’s nowhere near as long term planned out as some people might think.

Absolutely not true in the case of Mah's egg being corrupted by Wen. It was just what some players think. The Jagex Lore Council never revealed it. A lot of players thought Bob the cat was Zaros too, but Jagex never intended that in the lore.
There have never been a Bik "waking up" quest. Bik can still wake up later in the lore. Ful woke up first doesn't mean Bik will never wake up or there is any change in any major lore.

Seren herself suggests it was one of the other Elder Gods who corrupted Mah. Based on the corruption being “icy” it was a fair assumption that it was Wen and clearly that’s what the developers intended at the time given Xau-Tak was nowhere near as prominent as he is now. It’s beginning to be implied that Xau-Tak is some form of elder god equivalent, but back then he wasn’t implied to be that anywhere. There was very little evidence to support Bob the Cat being Zaros, but Jagex HAD provided sufficient evidence to suggest Wen corrupted Mah.
The Elder God quest focusing on Bik was announced at Runefest. It has since been cancelled/shelved. Jagex doesn’t plan content out 5 or 6 years in advance, the story shifts and changes depending on what writers are currently working on what projects. The Lore Council primarily exists to ensure that the lore remains consistent throughout, but that doesn’t mean changes won’t be made.
You have to remember that Rite of Passage, the Aviantese quest that would have taken us to their home world of Abbinah was intended to be a major part of the storyline and release around 2014/2015, but that was repeatedly postponed and now has also been indefinitely shelved/cancelled. Jagex definitely does change their plans quite a bit. After all, Menaphos won a poll to be made, as did the Seren return quest. If the Seren quest hadn’t won, she likely wouldn’t have returned for quite some time after.
Again, not true. Seren never said Wen did it. All NPCs can have many theories and not always all true and intended by the Lore Council. And even if she thought Wen did it, it didn't mean the Lore Council meant for Wen did it. Actually the spiral and color (black) on the inside of Mah's egg strongly suggested Xau-Tak corrupted it rather.

Please read my messages properly. I never said Seren said Wen did it, I said Seren said another Elder God likely did it, which is true.
I’m actually just about done replying to you, because all you seem to do is deny everything I say even though it’s freely available to be seen in game and on the wiki. And don’t give me that nonsense again about the Wiki being inaccurate, it’s the official wiki, can be accessed in game, and Mod Osborne said on stream that the Lore Council frequently references it.
I refuse to participate in theories about upcoming content, lore heavy content such as Erebus no less, if people aren’t even going to properly read up on the content beforehand or presume that game development is one massive unchanging master plan.
What Seren said or didn't say about what Elder God did to Mah's egg is not what the cliff hanger Jagex showed to us clearly:
"Ariane:
There's something on this one.
A spiral of a different substance.
Player:
This was Mah's egg. Something happened to it and she was born deformed and insensible.
Ariane:
It's icy. I can feel the cold radiating from here.
Player:
Wen has an association with ice. Why would Wen sabotage Mah's egg?
Azzanadra:
This was not Wen's doing."
"Do you really think you can save them, [player]? You can't. The
spiral
of time leads only to the gaping maw of eternity.
And this is Xau-Tak
."
The Lore Council has given us the strong hint long ago. Perhaps some players just didn't get it like they didn't get the Lore Council never meant for Bob the cat to be Zaros.

But this is exactly my point. You're quoting content from 2021, when what Seren said dated back to 2015. That's the definition of what a retcon is. This "cliff hanger" given by Jagex was given in 2021, which contradicts what was said in 2015.
It's not a bad thing that Jagex has shifted gears slightly, and honestly I far prefer that Xau-Tak corrupted Mah. But it's also not okay to discredit someone for simply stating that wasn't the original intention.
But either way I'm done here. I'll just look forward to what comes next because this type of thing is draining.

There is no contradiction at all. Jagex is just using misdirection in story telling. And they didn't just tell us in 2021 about Xau-Tak's "spiral". They actually did that in 2014 when they released the Eder Halls in the Fate of the Gods quest. Please free feel to examine Mah's egg in the Elder Hall, it shows the "spiral" too.... and long long ago.

The spiral on the egg predates Xau-Tak's name being first mentioned in lore, which also occured in 2015. I don't see how they could have intended for it back then, seven years ago, when Xau-Tak's name wouldn't even be mentioned for the first time until a whole year later.
The quote about Xau-Tak's spiral also dates from 2016, two years after the egg was added to the game.
