With today's Jagex M&A activities update, it is becoming even more interesting to play this 22 year old RS3. I will certainly be on board for the out-of-game forever stories of Jagex, in addition to the continuing sagas in this 22 year old forever game.

Whoever has and are willing to pay 800 million British Pound for Jagex certainly will have their own well established business plan in place already, even when the current Jagex don't have one. That said, forever games with well established IP, technologies and content like RS3 can last even longer than "forever".

I've tried them all ...

Neverwinter Nights (an old AOL game)

The Realm (sometimes I miss the mist, yea it's still around, but it's gone thru SO MANY hands, it's just a watered-down version of it's glory days)

Everquest (actually was a beta-tester for the game, but found it SO CONFUSING that I eventually gave up)

W.O.W. (one of the FEW RPG that I never did like, had a bunch of co-workers begging me to give it a try, but could never bring myself to buy the game, let alone have to pay extra money to explore land(s) (AKA - updates))

then there's Runescape ... started WAY back in 2003 (yeah ... 20 year cape) ... it just keeps drawing me back in ... a TRUE rpg ... do what I want at my own pace, no pressure to finish quest (have about 100 or so STILL to do) ... there are times I come on and do absolutely nothing but just chat with a few friends, then leave. I have left the game for months at a time and when I come back, it's the same old place ... kinda like those warm and fuzzy slippers (that are worn out) but you still like them because they bring some sort of comfort to you.

games come and go, but Runescape (for me) is forever
It's not who I am under the mask ... but what I do that defines me

Because no other game I have played takes 22 years to get to the end, and I am still not at the end, if there is an end. :-)

As long as a product has a neverending episodic story, the saga will always continue, the question is whether it will be in your neighborhood or a galaxy far, far away.

The neverending story of RS3 can go forever, may be we just need to give the Empress a new name. :)

There are only a small handful of online games with such proven 22 years credentials as RS3.

In some 20 years of playing, I have barely scratched the surface.

Maybe in another 20 my stats at least will be a bit more repectable haha.

Oh yes, it brings back memories...

Neverwinter still exists as Neverwinter Online now... but AOL no longer has anything to do with the that IP now. Neverwinter survived through a series of ownership changes from AOL to Cryptic to Perfect World to Gear Box and the Embracer Group.

On the contrary, it has been the same old Jagex owning the same 22 year old RS3. It is a rare phenomenon in the gaming and entertainment industry.

We are not longer playing a 22 year old RS3 now, we are playing a 23 year old RS3.

Not hard to understand why we still play a 23 year old game when there are still 13.5 million players playing the twice as old, or 46 year old, Fallout..

It is the neverending stories matter to the massive number of players. As Fallout is making its way to TV after 46 years in business, we may be playing RS3 for another 23 years and who know if it is on TV or movies or not but then, but if we have 13.5 million of players playing the 46 year old RS3 in 2047, it will definitely be another great success story of forever games.

Right! As long as we keep putting new content into RS3 forever, a new content like Necromancy will never end... and we should be accustomed to skills don't cap at level 99 and combat doesn't cap at level 138 already.

Perhaps in another 23 years, we will see all skills capped at level 120, and have 40 skills and 3 more new combat styles.

I am playing for Combat Level 200 in the future. :)
