Now we have seen the the necromancy preview. It looks really good for a 22 y/o game.

EVE Online has turned 20 y/o recently, but we can see the difference. RS3 is older but it is still giving us living stories every week with great technical merits. We can see EVE fading fast with their aging technology and dying economy, and and most of the time their devs are just talking about vaporware.

RS3 is still the king of all these 20 y/o games.

The sad story about the once mighty Eve that many were fooled to believe as the next WoW is undoubtedly the invisible VR technology they tried so hard to market in 2013 and is still virtual, invisble and in refinements in 2023.

If CCP was smart like Jagex and invested in real technologies, solid foundations and IP in RS3 that time, they would be in much better shape. and see the game proper in the next 20 years. Lucky for CCP though, they got Pearl Abyss to buy that lemon off them, but their community is long gone to greener pastures.

I play games for the content I can see, play and be entertained. RS3 definitely fits that bill now as we obviously are seeing, playing and getting entertained by very good content recently.

There used to be a time last year when I was skeptical about Jagex's vigorous attempts to diversify into other games and other businesses and Jagex wasn't showing positive signs on their Runescape games. There was a thought this 22 year old game would exist in a different form a few years down the road. Things have totally changed since Mod Keeper made his first appearance and they have delivered everything, and a lot more actually, on their roadmap. We are seeing a lot of promising signs, especially merits on the technical and IP fronts. There are still many things the RS3 team can't make visible now, but from the ones that are visible now, they show great promises.

We know Jagex's inevitable push toward diversification isn't affecting RS3 one iota negatively, or it actually makes RS3 even stronger going forward for the next 22 years. :)

The most game changing update in RS3 history is due up in 5 weeks.

No reason not to experience all the bland new ways of playing RS3 combat and skilling the story telling way, as well as remastered existing content like bosses.

Whenever I happen to have a bad day or just feel out of it I know I can escape to Geilinor and enjoy my fantasy life. The developers are non-stop either improving or adding new content; so much so that I am far and away behind where I should be, even though I have been playing for 12 years.

A few words to accentuate why I play RS would include; Graphics, geography, adventure, fighting, and many, many different skills that need enhancing, and character involvement, oh what the heck, there simply is no way to list the many reasons I play RS and will continue to do so for as long as this fat, happily married, 74-year-old Grampa lives.

Long live RS.

Three reasons:

1. Easy to play and easy to resume playing after a small or long hiatus.

You can do everything in game with a point-and-click approach. Some people love hyper-complex interfaces with more buttons and shortcuts than stars in the nightsky. For me, the more minimalistic, the better.

If you stop playing for whatever reason, the "RS routines" are quite easy to remember and there's a heap load of reminders that help you get back on track. Maybe it's a small detail... but opening the Skillguide with a single left-click on the Skill tab, is a godsend (seriously). Or the Tool Belt, which in my opinion is one the best upgrades this game ever had. The
all in one place
features are amazing. All organized for improved efficiency.

2. You don't need a godly-like computer to run it (Thank you, Jagex!)

Needs no explanation. I love this one. Please, don't take it the bad way: even the laundry machine will run this game smoothly and still have enough power to clean your rune socks! As far as I remember, that was one of RuneScape's features that actually helped pumping the game's fame across the globe. Any PC/Laptop with a not-so-powerful Internet connection could run this jewel. Still does.

3. After some epic FP2 quests, the game lore really grows in you.

The reason I became member years ago and the reason I came back many times. After Dragon Slayer, I felt something only great games do to you:
An evergrowing, crazy need to have MORE! MOOOREEE!
The rest is history. All the Quest sagas, characters, epic battles, funny scenes, happy and sad moments. Too many to name them all. I mean, I love skilling and grinding, but quests in this game are quite a magic experience.

For all that, my deepest gratitude. I'm not an expert, pro gamer nor a veteran. I just enjoy playing and having a good time. For me, RuneScape delivers that. And I'm satisfied.

Wishing you all the best for what lies ahead.
Leveling +110 all skills and completing stuff here and there

Yes, I am pretty sure fat, happily married, 74-year-old Grampa can max a combat skill mostly AFKing and without killing a mob in RS3 in a little more than a month.
