I must say Jagex/JMods are for me the ones who have used/treated/handeld Social Media with the outmost respect, like we always are used to see them doing with everything else.

Outside of that social media seems to be like being done ... we've seen the end of it as at the moment it is a load of crap becoming far worse as time goes by.
The Media Industry should leave that 'platform' as it has become a 'wasteland of degrading topics/subjects that degrade people' and 'Jagex/RuneScape/Gaming-Industry' deserve a better platform.

I have seen social media being added because the Media Industry wanted it to be done but it is over.

This tool should be removed.

What are your thoughts?

I wonder where the tipping point for X/Twitter will be: at what point does the reach become outweighed by the sheer toxicity of the platform?

There is no such thing as social media. Social means being together with other people, not sitting alone in front of a computer. They are all asocial medias.
'
Social media are interactive technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of content, ideas, interests, and other forms of expression through virtual communities and networks.

To be honest ... I can't answer that one.

What I can say is is that a lot of people who had created/catered for social media in the past, have left, left when they saw that the ship started sinking. None of them could come to an agreement to turn things for the better, or forward improvements.
It was just one big money machine all for the purpose of making money fast.

They have no futuristic view, they do not know how to socially interact, they are the least ... anti-social.

We as a gaming community, we can not benefit from these platforms, they only cause more harm and damage to gaming communities and that should be stopped, all the way.

I still see plenty of Jagex involvements in Reddit and Twitter, but noticeably they have been cutting back on Twitch. We didn't get any Jmod live streams for both RS3 and OSRS for over a month after Mod Spear left. We did have a RS3 Jmod livestream finally 2 weeks ago and we are going to have another in a few minutes. We also had one OSRS Jmod livestream 2 weeks ago too.

When I tuned to X (or Twitter), I actually saw a lot of RS3 jmods writting up recently.

It seems like Jagex is just rebalancing their social media exposure. They aren't "done". And I only care to see the actual information officially from Jagex. As long as they keep letting us know the relevant updates and other news, I don't care if they come from Twitter, Reddit or developer blogs on the RSOF.

Community engagement and collecting feedback for content both moving over to external platforms was a grave mistake, in my opinion. In-turn, we've seen little to no interactions from the employees here and it's left the RSOF a wasteland, tragically. The influx of players (new and returning) the game receives nowadays from external promotions are seemingly incentivized by these short-lived boosts and bonuses that cannot seem to captivate their attention long-term.

Similar to the players within my community - the ones that stay the longest are the ones that have done their research and presented genuine interest in beginning their own journey alongside like-minded individuals; not the 6% XP Boost. If a RuneScape clan's Discord server (similar to a forum-board) can also gain near 300 members in only 7 months with 60-70 always online engaging to some extent, there's no reason a company that reportedly houses millions of players can't invest a fraction of money and time within their own community's outlet directly affiliated with their game. Currently, it's observed that there's maybe peak 10 users signed into the RSOF most days.

Jagex, you can absolutely do better here. Any employee reading this - please make improving the RSOF a side project and rectify community engagement here before it's inevitably too far gone :( .

Will you rather read a few short Tweets than watch an 8 hour stream or read a 2000 words Great Wall of Text from Reddit or RSOF?

When Microsoft put up Copilot to have AI to go to meeting or summarize a presentation into bullet points, we know the game industry will be changing too. Players are getting tired of watching 8 hours content from the same creator on the likes of Twitch perhaps... and when Amazon saw the consumers are fading away from watching gaming livestreams they invested in Prime Video and created TV and real life shows kinds of content for gamers who'll rather watch real life sports events like NFL, video games TV eries like Leage of Legends: Arcane and Fallout.

The social media is changing rapidly too, and Zuckerberg has yet to make his Metaverse move which will further reshape the social media marketplace.

Jagex/JMods had to abandone The RuneScape Official Forums for in exchange of using social media, as that is what the Media Industry wanted them to do.

What did '

What have they done for us? Social media ...

Under what kind of rock did you sleep all these years?
I have seen so many variations of market places in RuneScape, and not always that good, that such new creation isn't original/new at all.

It will be a copy of the past with a lot of datahacks coming at us when we attempt to use it.

Social media isn't changing rapidly other than becoming more hazardous for a lot of people around the globe.

Mark Zuckerberg isn't able to create anything new at all ... he doesn't have a social life.
