I dunno if this post is relevant here but im so upset i'll post and let you guys decide. A player called jag corp ana approached me asking if i wanted to be a player mod. I thought yeah i could help other players so decided to accept. Was directed to pages that looked like they were genuine. Cut a long story short my account was hacked and i lost everything. Runescape staff are doing nothing to help me with this.
Thought about quitting the game but i'll be damned if i'll let cheats drive me away from another game. I've put a lot of time and effort into this game. Im so very upset but i wont give in.
Be careful you decent people out there that you dont fall for this con. Thats if there are any decent people in this ****** world. Im beginning to doubt it.
YOU WONT BEAT ME YOU CHEATING SCUM!!!
Peace...
Had a chat with a mod called rand0mperson and got help on how to report the scum. Its very upsetting so please excuse my bad language. I guess there are some decent folk out there
Yes it is a scam and yes it is reportable on two fronts. a) the ingame player for advertising websites and b) the website itself should be report to Jagex.
See Post #5 the Website Scam all the details on reporting are there.
Just a reminder to all Jagex will NEVER ask you to visit another website, they contact players by using the ingame inbox only.
I believe that it cannot be stickied until completed. Also, it is hard to recommend a thread to be stickied. If it is decided that this thread is to be stickied, it will be moved into this topic probably: Account Security

About the website advertising/ become a PMOD, put in that they also send you private messages. I get them all the time.
My method to scare them (just for some amusement AND AFTER you've reported them (if you can in private messages)), simply play along, say like "Oh wow! Cool!", then ask to repeat the website, note it down, or take a screenshot(this does work 100% of the time because they panic, and most of the time they will be impersonating a Jagex staff member), then say something smart like, "Do you know you can be banned for impersonating a Jagex moderator?". Instant log off.
Plus you'll have added them to your friends list anyway to speak, but then you have their name for reference.
Just thought I'd point that out
But as I've said, nice guide. (I recently saw someone trying the goodybag scam, they really are running out of imagination aren't they?)
