Excuse me. I do not look like that at all. The lice departed my hair ages ago. Saying something about finding somewhere cleaner and more wholesome to live. Ungrateful sods. Imagine that, after all the dead rats I gave them.

I have been playing Crusader Kings 2. It's free now on Steam. A bit hard to get into. Even harder to stick with, since once you get over the learning curve it rapidly becomes more about rng management rather than medieval dynasties and brutal battles. After a series of failed games, getting deposed, having rebellious vassals take over my Kingdom, and falling victim to various plots and intrigue I managed to unite Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England as an Anglo-Saxon Empire. Before 1066. So no Battle of Hastings or Norman invasion of any sort occurred. Indeed, quite the reverse, I took over France and began making inroads on Spain.

But then I lost all interest. I had beaten the game. Once you beat France you have beaten everyone. I knew conquering the rest of Europe would more of the same. Managing family and vassals. Political marriages. Murdering rivals. Storming enemy castles. Betraying friends. Waging Holy wars. Putting down rebellions. You would be correct in thinking this sort of thing would suit me right down to the ground. In theory yes, but in actual game play its not as exciting as it sounds. It becomes tedious micro-management , centered around mitigating the effects of random events. Yawn.

I am told its not supposed to be a conquest game. Maybe that's where I go wrong. I see stuff, I want to conquer it.

Still, it was sort of interesting from the history side of things, at least initially where it begins in a historical setting. Certainly teaches you something about the intricate complexities of medieval politics and diplomacy. As in just how utterly fucked up it all was.

Perhaps I should fire up HOI3 and try a world conquest as Australia.

I don't think I've ever walked the dogs so far, so often, in my life. the tranquility of random family/friends not being able to turn up ad hoc is wonderful.
happy bunny.

Me too. Except the bunny part.

Hmmm, I'd wondered where 'Rugi went. Thought he was still going where no man had gone before but it seems conquering Europe was more tantalising.

I dyed my hair brown, I thought it might make it look shorter. It didn't.

I'm starting to hanker for a prowl around the shops.

You could try to conquer the world starting from Neutral Moresnet, a small state of 3.5 square kilometers between Belgium and Germany fromn 1816 to 1920 that formed one of the few quadripoi, nts with its borders. It was a small triangle that started with its tip at the Belgium-Dutch-German three-land pount and ran south.
