Correction:

FMods have deemed it inappropriate to name and shame on the forums.

People may appeal their KOS status on this thread and we may respond as to whether their request has been approved or denied. We may NOT state what it was that they did to become KOS as this would be naming and shaming.

If someone requests further information on their KOS status as to why they are on KOS, they will have to ask in-game.

Hopefully that clears up some misconceptions.

If anyone should be KOS it's Panda who had his main banned for serious rule breaking behavior, behavior which is listed on the front of this document as being worthy of KOS, behavior which he freely admits.
I have not joined the FC in probably a week at least, and we all know even if someone is KOS they can still post ALL OVER THE FORUMS :D
Stay happy.

Thanks for the clarification, but it appears those directions have indeed been violated. I thought I recalled Tuffty saying keep in game only.

Question -

How exactly are rank promotions / demotions determined? We vote with +s, -s, Keeps, and Unks; but how to they translate into a Promotion / Demotion / No Change?

Is it a direct scoring sort of thing, or are there other factors (e.g. it's harder to promote Lieut -> Capt than Recr -> Corp)?

Lyra bases it entirely on what the majority of the votes were. For example, if most votes were +s, that person gets a promotion.

We used to have a system where admins would review all promotions of star ranks, however, I don't think that this is still done with the admins being fairly absent for the most part.

That's relatively correct, its just based on the majority vote during the session (so voting is sort of biased on who is present at the session). Once in a while if the voting seems relatively unfair admins can re-vote on the person's rank to better depict their contributions. Admins also review all star ranks in their own way and give +/- on their rank up sometime during the month to determine if they have done enough to become a lieutenant or captain.

I am finding myself busier and busier in real life, so unfortunately I will not be able to contribute nearly as much as I used to, and certainly not enough to maintain my current rank.

I would greatly appreciate a permanent veteran rank (1-stripe) so that I can continue to update prices and conflict fake reports. I hope that I can be back and active again in the future.

I feel that I must leave with this message as it has been something I (as well as others I have talked with) have felt must be said but most are too afraid to bring it up:

An FC as large as R Quark with hundreds of unique visitors and upwards of 40 active ranks needs leadership. The current admins have done a great job, but I have noticed that they have become less and less active by no fault of their own. They continue to login regularly, however, and make themselves available whenever possible. Still, even though they do their best to act as leaders of the FC, they can't do everything. What is needed is an active owner that logs in daily or at the very least weekly to help manage the FC, observe the ranks, and correct any issues that may be present. Rank sessions are often not given adequate notice well before they take place, and sometimes ranks question whether a rank session will even occur. I have even seen admins say that they have heard nothing from Lyra for weeks.

Lyra, if you see this, you have done an excellent job of caring for and helping to grow the FC. Your contributions to the community will forever be greatly appreciated, but unfortunately I am starting to see that your reputation is not as great as it once was because of your inactivity as of late. I implore you to ask yourself if you feel that your continued inactivity is healthy for the FC. Knowing you, you want nothing but the best for the FC, and the best thing for the FC would be to have an active leader, role model, and decision maker. I say this with the utmost respect:
It's time to pass the torch.

From June 3 of previous thread by the late great admin Dardad:

"Lets face it, the FC has a problem with leadership at the moment. The FC owner is inactive and has appointed admins to run the FC. It is a substantial work load for that small team to deal with 100+ ranks, the countless users, the endless issues and the range updates. Overall I think they are doing a great job. But a major problem I see is that these admins cannot create a new forum thread or alter posts in the home thread originally made by the owner. The admins also cannot add/change ranks or add players to the ban list. The FC has been paralyzed to a degree by having an inactive owner. Things just aren't getting done when they need to be/should be. I understand that Lyra is busy and has real life priorities, but her absence is creating issues. Unfortunately, as a FC there cannot be a key holder as there is with clans."

My point: The issue Hyles brought up is not new.
