In an effort to improve impartiality and objectivity, here are the Specific Definitions for Price Manipulation and Trending:
1st Degree "Direct" Manipulation: Any false report or conflict.
2nd Degree "Indirect" Manipulation: Any malicious claim based on ZERO evidence that suggests prices should be going a certain direction (i.e. up or down).
Example: "Dragon pickaxe will be augmentable in September 2016! Go see the Catherby BTS update."
[This is 2nd degree manipulation because the Catherby BTS did not mention anything about dragon pickaxe, augmentation, or mining rework.]
Example: "Wolf bones probably will go down in price because the Catherby-White-Wolf_Mountain rework will attract more players to kill wolves."
[This is NOT 2nd degree manipulation because the player did not claim with certainty that prices will actually go down and that the Catherby BTS may indeed affect wolf bone supply].
Note: Accidents with reading informational releases do occur, so the lack of malice is an exemption.
Trending: Statements that claim prices should be going up or down in the future or have been going up or down in the past. (applies to in-game FC only, not Forums)
Example: "Omg, fish masks are rising!"
[This is trending.]
Example: "Omg, fish masks are finally cheap. I'm so glad that I could squeeze my 100m bank into buying 100 of them yesterday. "
[Although one may argue that 'cheap' suggests prices should go up in the future, words like 'cheap' are part of subjective claims that do not make a definitive statement about price trends. What is 'cheap' or 'expensive' is different from person to person (a 100m noob vs. a 1000m rich guy). Similarly, expressing satisfaction or dissatisfaction with one's own trade is another subjective claim that has no bearing whether prices should rise or go down or remain the same. For all we know, the person making that statement worked hard to get his 100m and is finally able to afford 100 fish masks for his permanent collection.]
If you are willing to chuck your most precious possessions like phats because someone said words like crashing/dying/quitting and then find yourself unable to rebuy for what you sold for, then you don't deserve to own a phat.
