I've had an issue recently where a member accidentally left the clan, when he meant to leave his (Raids) group instead. I thought it was a very careless mistake that happened then and had no idea how it could possibly happen, but it happened again yesterday with another member.

Both are high ranked and very experienced, so it's not really your noobish type of error. Obviously, ideally, you should always be careful and read. However, looking further into it, these mistakes can easily happen absent-mindedly, especially when it's an emergency (i.e. trying to leave your raid group asap due to failure mid-kill and clicking 'yes' quickly without even reading or just holding down the 1 button), and when you have your clan and group tabs on top of each other. Others had also admitted that they'd nearly done the same mistake at times.

This had me thinking whether something extra could be done to prevent this?

I looked at the interfaces, and as you can see in this picture, the 'leave' buttons are in the same position and are identical: http://puu.sh/p5N6D.png

EDIT: It has just happened with someone on Reddit who has lost 3.1B clan XP as a result - https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/4mhwjf/i_just_lost_31b_clan_xp_because_the_leave_group/

That's the case for me and I was still sort of confused and had no idea how it's happening, but I found out that if you make the tab wider (to fit all the buttons) there's no tooltip/filter thing, which is the case with these and others. Only then I was able to understand how it's happening :p

Instead of having leave clan on the interface itself we could possibly put it in a separate window, maybe in the clan details, or clan settings.

I can see how accidents are more likely to occur with things on the interface as youre engaged within the game.

Theres too much going on in the interface as it is, most of which would suffice away from it.

Yes I agree, that would be a good solution for it - only downside is some people may have trouble finding it but it shouldn't be too difficult.

Another solution would be to prompt an in-game pop-up in the middle of the screen with a warning and confirmation for yes/no and a 10-second timer before you can click either yes or no.

Also, probably the easiest one, is making it so that you still have to click to expand the options regardless of how wide your clan tab is, but I'm not sure if it could still create issues (in case you could somehow leave it expanded).

People can be rash with the buttons in front of them, and leaving the clan causes them to lose all of their data and XP.

There's also an issue with confusing the leave chat channel button with the leave clan button. I've heard of some issues with other clans where some people made a mistake and accidentally left, and were too embarrassed about it that they chose to move on rather than swallow their pride and rejoin lol.

I dont see it as a downside at all, no more so than having to explain it to them as it is now, and like you said its not too difficult.

I dont think the other solutions mentioned here as simple or as effective than just storing leave clan away off the interface.
